“I wanted to fight, but I think Dana White has had more experience with my personality-type. I think he made a good call. But being the person I am, I don’t like to back out. I don’t think it’s a defeat necessary, but somehow it feels like a loss. There’s no saying ‘uncle’. Right now, I’m just doing some rehab, some therapy. I will start doing some training this week. I just want to get healthy. I’m not looking at a strict time line. That’s how you end up with disappointment. I just want to be healthy.”
For the first time since having to pull out of his scheduled UFC 133 bout with Rashad Evans, Phil Davis speaks to ESPN.com about the disappointment with being pulled from the fight.
He has made it clear, that he was willing to fight through injury and stay in the bout, however UFC officials, specifically, Dana White forced his hand to withdraw because of the nature of the injury and the possibility at worsening the condition.
No specific timeline has been given for Phil’s rehabilitation; however MMA fans can expect him to return to action as soon as possible.
