Rumor: Overeem close to deal with the UFC for UFC 140 Appearance

Multiple sources are saying that Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem, is close to inking a deal with the UFC, exclusively.

During the past several weeks, we have saw Overeem get removed from the Strikeforce HW Grand Prix and subsequently released from his contractual obligation with the promotion.

With a highly publicized rift between the ZUFFA LLC organization that owns both the UFC and Strikeforce and Overeem’s management company, Golden Glory, many wondered if a deal would ever be reached between the two companies.

While I am not ready to commit to these rumors as facts, there have been several rumblings going on in the past few days that would point to the real possibility of an Overeem signing by the UFC.

We will keep you posted on any developments. However, if rumors hold true, who should he face in his UFC debut?

Master Yoda you know nothing about MMA. Just another Brock Lesnar brown nose. If cheik Kongo can make Velasquez wobbly on his feet what do you think JDS will be capable of?? Im not saying JDS is going to destroy him it could go either way. and oh its all about the wrestling is it? just because your not a D1 D2 wrestler does not mean you dont have wrestling. If you thibnk Lesnar could beat Overeem in ny scenario you would be wrong. I mean have you ever watched any of Reems 47 fights including K1??????????
    Are you for real??

  2. WARCAIN

joey are you for real wtf so what kongo dropd cain all that shows is cains hard chin and that he can take a punch and recover almost instantly, look at what kongo did to barry out cold cain stand up is sick so is his wrestling best heavy on the planet jds stands no chance and reem dont make me laugh did you see the werdum fight!!!!!!! case closed he is a scrub dropd out of the grandprix cause he knows bigfoot would also smash his ass get real dawg

  3. Whoa

Warcain- I can’t believe you think that Cain recovered instantly from Kongo, he didn’t. He took the fight to the ground because he couldn’t stand up with him and stay conscious. That says a lot considering how well Cain outstruck Big Nog. Also, Kongo was a fraction away from pulling out that fight in the third if his fight with Barry is any indication. He was wobbly and was low enough to hit him on the button with an uppercut. He hit Cain with a cross and if it had been an uppercut Cain would have at least one loss right now. It wasn’t and Cain’s on top while Kongo’s fighting to remain relevant against Meathead…not an enviable task. Kongo vs Cain II, there’s a rematch Cain doesn’t want to think about. Reem would sweat out that matchup too. Give him (Reem) the winner of Pee Wee and Russow if this actually goes down.

you know he’d mutilate both lesnar and mir.

ooooh i hope he signs so he can fight mir.

oooooh. anyone saying he cannot stand amongst top ranks of hw division is completely mad – i dont know if i could see him holding the title for any considerable amount of time though given the ufc’s never-ending pools of wrassle-happy snuggle-tactics fighters.
