A light-heavyweight slugfest has been booked for the “UFC on Versus 6” card in the form of Aaron Rosa vs. Fabio Maldonado.
UFC officials confirmed the news this afternoon.
The show which features a bantamweight title fight between champion, Dominick Cruz and challenger, Demetrious Johnson is set to take place on Oct. 1 from the Verizon Center in our nation’s capitol of Washington D.C.
“Two exciting light heavyweight sluggers have verbally agreed to throw down October 1st in Washington D.C. as Aaron Rosa takes on Fabio Maldonado,” said UFC President Dana White.
Aaron Rosa takes the fight after losing his UFC debut in a heavyweight contest to Joey Beltran this past June at UFC 131. The loss snapped a four-fight win streak which included wins in Bellator, Titan and Shark fights respectively. He now looks to drop down in weight in hopes to emerge as a legit threat in the UFC’s 205 pound division.
Fabio Maldonado entered the UFC’s Octagon for the first time with a win over James McSweeney back in October of 2010. He then went on to face Kyle Kingsbury at the TUF 13 finale and suffered a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of the AKA product. The loss to Kingsbury in June snapped an 11 fight win streak and was only his second loss out of his last 18-fights.

Maldonado is a beast. Can’t wait!!!!!!!!
