The UFC has taken little time to start putting together the fight card for their debut on Network television.
As announced this morning, the UFC has inked a 7-year broadcast deal with Fox and will put on their first live event November 12.
First on the list of confirmed bouts for the groundbreaking event will be a featherweight contest between Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza.
WEC import, Dustin Poirier will be looking to make his third UFC appearance since the two companies merged when he takes on Garza on FOX TV. The featherweight fighter has not tasted defeat since dropping to the featherweight division and has picked off fighters such as Josh Grispi and Jason Young.
Garza was last seen in action at UFC 128 when he took out Yves Jabouin via “flying triangle” on the evening preliminary card. Prior to his acrobatic submission he took out Fredson Paixao with a flying knee on the TUF 12 Finale show.
The bout is likely to be on the preliminary portion of the evenings card.
its the first fight its not the main even retard
I don’t think sab made any comments to the lines of giving any indication that he thought there was any particular significance in the report. He only mentioned that this was first fight booked…not the main event. I believe he is trying to say you might be a bit premature in your summation of the UFC’s offerings for this first event. All the fights on any event all start with THE FIRST fight being booked. In the case of this event, they started out by booking a very talented and exciting new fighter. They even mention at the bottom of the report, “The bout is likely to be on the preliminary portion of the evenings card.” so they are letting us know that this IS NOT the main attraction…that has yet to be announced. It’s like on christmas….start with opening the smaller gifts first and building till you finally get to open the BIG box! In our case…we’re waiting for the main event…but will have to open the smaller ones first.
ROFL it clearly says it will be shown on FOX tv and you say “please praytell what the significance is to even report a fight that possibly wont even be televised?? ” at least read the article before you call someone a retard
Common man?
