Cain Velasquez Predicts 5-Round War With JDS

“I think his hand speed makes him tough. I’m expecting this fight to go five rounds, go back and forth and be a close fight. That’s what I have in my head going into this fight, to keep my body ready and my mind ready. There’s no question I can go five rounds. I do it regularly in practice, going five rounds with multiple sparring partners. Those are the toughest fights I have, in the gym.”

UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, talks to MMAfighting.com about his upcoming title fight with number one contender Junior Dos Santos.

    Clash of the titans !!!

  2. Night-Wind

    This is THE heavyweight fight!

  3. Robby

Two guys who have truly earnest their spots at champion and #1 contender.

  4. Enzo

Holy shit this fight is gonna be insanely freaking awesome. I’m gonna drop my balls.

  5. This is a TRUE humble Champ. Ready to go the full length of the fight when he knows he’ll pound him out within the first two.

  6. pk9grrr

that maybe cains edge to win having a 5 round fight

  7. Calvin

I say the winner should go by “the juggernaut” who agrees

  8. Humble thing to say, but Jds won’t make it passed the 3rd.. Cain wins GnP!

    • Stojnic,Kongo,or Rothwell.. Don’t mind Forty he likes to say JDS KO power is overrated yet here he is putting all his stock into Cain’s power when he has only ko’d Brock “afraid to get hit” Lesnar and an over the hill Nog.. (Mir already accomplished that feat)

      • Jeff

I think JDS’s KO power is overrated as well. Should be a good fight though.

      • Tell me again who Jds has knocked out that has a good chin?

        • He is the only one to stop Werdum, not Fedor, not Overeem, not Sergei, not Big Nog and no one else came close to stopping him before, he has an excellent chin and is extremely durable.. You can bury your head in the sand and avoid reality all you want, it’s only gonna turn your world upside down when it happens and you can’t believe because you spent months convincing yourself otherwise..

  9. Nick

About time, he’s not truly champ until he defends his belt, and JDS will be a good test. Hopefully we see more than 1 fight every 1.5 years from Cain. IMO, fight or vacate the belt to someone who will.

  10. JOSH C

i think cains going to win using his wrestling and cardio i dont think he wants to stand with JDS. this could be the fight of the year but dont be suprised if its a 5 round ground and pound. theres always potential of a jon fitch style fight when one fighter is clearly more dominant in wrestling than the other.

ps whats the go with the new bj penn site how cum i can only post one comment every 10 minutes???

  11. I’ll be at UFC 139, it’s right in my backyard. Would have gave my right arm for BJ to be on this card. I got Cain winning by TKO when they start firing shotz from their feet, or gnp’ing JDS with his wrestling skills.

  12. Cain is a warrior, but it is JDS time.. He is taking home the belt no doubt..

    • Mckeever

Unfortunately it isn’t JDS’ time. People don’t yet understand how freakishly talented Velasquez is. JDS is good, no doubt, but Cain is Jon Jones type good.

Cain will do what he does to every single other fighter he faces. Set a pace that his opponent can’t match and completely overwhelm them with technical aggression. Kicks, punches, take downs ans ground and pound, lot of ground and pound. JDS will be exhausted by the second round and won’t make it past the third.

      • Funny you mention how freakishly talented and good Cain is, because all of the same things are being said about JDS, how he is a special talent, picks up everything super quick, and only 26 to top it off.. The sky is the limit for someone with the potential of JDS, and he is going straight to the top, no doubt..

        • Mckeever

He isn’t half as talented as Cain to tell you the truth. That isn’t a knock on JDS either, he is talented. Cain improves by huge leaps and bounds every fight. Cain started off as just a wrestler a few year’s ago. He’s now a top 3 MMA wrestler (GSP, Jones, Cain) and on top of that has some of the most dangerous stand up in the division.

Cain has much more tools than JDS and improves at a much quicker rate.

  13. Ever Joy

I’ll go with CAin! Brutal GnP baby! XD

  14. pk9grrr

cain wins because he is smarter

    • Smarter, and more well rounded .. who has proven that he is the best and is king kong of the HWs? Like usual a lot of bs talk on both sides.. on nov 19 we will know who’s king.. Period!

      • u forgot walks on water, better looking, speaks better English, trains in the United States not some dirty ghetto place like Brazil, oh and also hits the hardest in the UFC..

As for proving he is the king kong of HW’s I don’t know how you do that when you basically haven’t fought JDS or Carwin two top tier HW’s in a very shallow UFC HW division.. If he beats JDS then it will be no doubt, and vice versa, but for now he is the champ but he hasn’t proven he is the best yet, there has been alot of one and done champions we don’t know what Cain is until he proves it..

        • pk9grrr

lol dont even remember typing the smarter coment was so off my head imo for now cain reminds me of a heavyweight gsp,he uttilizes mma well ,3 or 4 steps ahead of his opponent ,but the diference is that cain is willing to fight and go for the finish

        • No one walks on water except Chael..no Jds is the fairest out of the two..Cain does speak better Spanglish..Cain does train the states and I’m sure Jds does to when he’s here..well the hardest puncher is probably Carwin and The Reem, but Carwin is slow as hell. Cain beat the #1 guy Brock so that makes Cain King Kong, and if Jds can beat Cain he’ll get the title…until them he’s # 3 HW. That was actually pretty funny mr bizzle..I do like the picture u paint of me, it’s comical at best!

Cain v Jds .. Could go either way and whoever is healthy and brings their A game will win. If I remember correctly we have a friendly $100 on this one?

  15. I dont see JDS losing. better boxing better jitz and its gonna be tough for cain to take him down hes gonna have to hope he tires him out. i say JDS KO rd 1 or 2

  16. jmad

you can’t say JDS boxing is better than Cain’s until they fight. Cain has some of the smoothest como’s I’ve seen. They are both beasts, this one is a toss up. Can’t wait to watch it.

  17. SPASE

    Cain got this.

  18. michael

Be a good test for Cains chin, go back and watch the kong fight Cain had his lights turned out twice and recovered, all the Cain fans are crazy if you dont thik JDS can knock him out or win this fight.
