Jackson: “I’m not worried about Jon’s punches or kicks”

“I’m not worried about his punches or his kicks. I’ll walk right through it, I don’t care about it. He ain’t showing me a whole lot of power, especially with the way he stands. His stance is all wrong to even generate power. The guy can’t bust a grape. I’m confident that I have him figured out. I don’t think that Jones’ chin can take the kind of force that I’m gonna bring. He has never been hit that hard. I’m gonna have fun whipping his ass.”

Former UFC champion, Rampage Jackson tells UFC.com that he is not worried about his upcoming UFC 135 opponent’s striking.

While Jones does appear to lack in the one-punch knockout power department, he was able to effectively dismantle Muay Thai wrecking machine, “Shogun” Rua, on the feet to earn his UFC light-heavyweight title.
Is Jackson making a mistake in his assessment of the champion’s skills?

    I hope he’s right. Lol a grape.

  2. Koi paningsoro

Haha! I want some grape juice for this fight!

  3. mike f

He has some points. On his feet Jones hasn’t show one punch power. It’s when he’s gnp people that he causes damage. He does land shots cleanly and often. I hope rampage isn’t over confident in his chin

  4. steven horgan

DEFINETLY NOT OVER CONFIDENT WITH HIS CHIN..THE GUY WENT TOE TO TOE WITH CHUCK IN PRIDE AND TOOK BIG SHOTS..I THINK RAMPAGE KNOWS JONES IS A GOOD STRIKER BUT KNOWS HE IS GONNA BE ABLE TO TAKE HIS PUNISHMENT TO GIVE HIS WHICH I THINK HE BELIEVES A HUNDRED PERCENT AND ME TOO THAT JONES WONT HANDLE…CONSTANT PRESSURE , MOVING FORWARD IS HOW RAMPAGE WILL WIN THIS ONE IN MY OPINION

  5. Rafael

I’m really going to laugh when Jon beats Rampage – it’s just so funny in my opinion to watch the ones who talk smack get beat. no offence rampage you are good at what you do but right now honestly Jones is better.

  6. Bob

Jones by devastating fashion. Rampage wont be able to handle whats coming his way – Yes hes got power, but he wont catch Jones – he’s slow now, he’s old, this is a young mans game… Its over an he knows it.

  7. $u$-Q

Let us not forget that Rampage has’nt been stopped in what……6 or 7 years. Can any of you name a fighter that Jon Jones has fought that has’nt been stopped in the last 6 years, and has only lost twice in that time frame via decision. Rampage’s chin is made of cast iron and his hand’s are like cement blocks. He’ poses way more problems for Jon Jones that you guy are taking into concideration. Just sayin, Bones better come correct…….

  8. Robsta

Funny how nobody has mentioned the possibility of Jones manhandling Rampage and GnP’ing him. If Rashad was able to take Page down at will it will be a short night for Page in there with Jones. Jones threw Matt Hamill around……Page is doomed.

  9. get real

The book is out on how to beat Rampage. Jones has yet to be beaten. Rampage’s only shot is to make it a war, and i’m not even sure he can win a brawl with Jones. Elbows, kicks, takedowns, Jones is very good and his reach may make him great.

  10. Nemesis Neville

Your all talking like Rampage is past it, and as for slow, i wudnt say that shot when he sat wanderlei on his ass!! slow. Yeh Jones is a great fighter, but when rampage is in the zone he’s dominated fighters time n time again. And yeah jones has a great reach advantage, thats gonna be a problem for jackson. But it wont stop him pushing forward like he does, i dnt think jones has power to knock jackson out. And as for gettin him in the clinch, do you know how strong rampage can be? He neally slammed machida’s ass like he did Arona’s in pride. If that happens its game over!! I think Rampage doesnt care wether he loses or wins like he says, He’s already been a great champion, nowt to prove. I think he just wants to teach the cocky new spawn of rashad a lesson.

  11. GET RID OF FITCH

I think Jones will try and do same thing rashad did and Lay N pray. Its not that i don’t think Jones can beat Rampage standing but you have to remember who will be making the gameplan “Greg point fighting Jackson” Greg Jackson will take no chances against Rampages power and this fight will be a snoozefest unless Jones just throws the gameplan out the window which he main very well do

    • Johnny

Ok first off Jones isnt Clay Guida he doesnt lay n pray whem he takes you down. He gets on you and beats the shit out of you. He rains down Vicous Strikes amd Elbows! Sorry all rampage can do is stand up box. Jones is going to beat him easy.

  12. $u$-Q

You guy’s crack me up with this next big thing, bandwagon jumping, dick riding non-sense,You guys said the same shit about Forest Griffen,Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, and Shogun Rua. It all boils down to this Jon Jones chin has never been tested by a legitamate challenger, Rampage’s has.Jon Jones is a great young athelete and a legitamate champion. I give credit where credit is due. BUT….as a long time fan of pro mma you’ve gotta be insane to try to make me believe that Rampage has no chance in this fight…….

    • Robsta

Rashad showed how easy it was to nullify Rampage’s stand up. This is going to be a one sided domination by Jones. Deal with it.

  13. Daniel

What I find funny is yall think you can come up with all of these gameplans to beat the other guy like the coaches can’t. I have to say this, IF Jones gets rocked he could run away like a little girl. I know some of yall may come on here and say “no way” but some of the biggest, baddest men in MMA didn’t know what to do when their chin first got tested. Jones is young and could be in one hell of a night against Rampage. I’ve seen Rampage take a punch, I have yet to see Jones take one…

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face…”- Mike Tyson

    • $u$-Q

@ Daniel, Man you’re the smartest person to comment on this forum so far. I’m a fan of both fighters. I believe that both fighters bring a set of unique attributes and skill’s to the octogon. But as a REAL fan of pro MMA, I can only call it how it is. If you believe that Jon Jones is gonna run over Rampage you’re really trippin. That shit you smokin ain’t fuzzy green, it’s hard white. LOL
