Joe Lauzon: “If they want it to be Anthony Pettis, I’ll fight Pettis”

“I think it would be an exciting fight. It doesn’t matter to me who I fight. Whoever the UFC says they want me to fight, I’ll fight. If they want it to be Anthony Pettis, I’ll fight Pettis. It doesn’t really matter to me that much. I’m up for whoever. I’m not sure why people are calling me out, but I’m fine with it. I have to be doing something right if everybody wants to fight me. I definitely don’t think it’s a bad thing. It’s awesome getting called out by guys like that, that are doing really well.”

A few days ago, Anthony Pettis called out Joe Lauzon stating he wanted to fight him on his way back to the top of the division.

As always, never one to sh away from a challenge, Lauzon took to The Boston Herald to respond and say emphatically that he will take the fight, or any other fight the UFC has to offer him.

If that fight gets booked between Lauzon and Pettis who do you think takes the “W” home?

  1. the truth hurts

    pettis all the way

  2. Tim

Lauzon if it goes to the ground

  3. JDMartialArts

    I say J-Lau.

All the proof I need is to rewatch the Guillard fight.

    • DontBeScaredHomie

Because he beat the most overrated fighter in the LW division? LOL you’re funny.

      • Adrian

sorry but that crown already belongs to edgar.i mean if yiu really wanna talk about over rated. Number 2 p4p, really Dana?

        • DontBeScaredHomie

That’s why he beat Bj penn twice who was the G.O.A.T in the LW divison and knocked out maynard right? I wouldn’t say number 2 p4p yet but he has sure impressed me alot more than Gsp has in his last 4 fights.

  4. Jack

Pettis hasn’t finished anyone in UFC. He barely earned his last win. Try winning in good fashion before calling people out. Jo all day till pettis either improves or actually wins besides being another mma blanket

    • Joe

      danny castillo

    • DontBeScaredHomie

He has two fights in the ufc you idiot and lost one by getting dry humped so wtf? Plus you’re dumb for thinking that fight was even close pettis beat Stephens up the whole fight it so quit hating. Just because the judges are shit doesn’t mean and said it was a split decision doesn’t mean it was really that close.

      • True, after the fight I heard the judges scorecards and I was amazed by the stupidity of some of the judges. Split decision? Really?

Pettis was better in the stand-up and on the ground. It should have been a unanimous decision.

  5. Mo

J Lau has this one, it might be close but I think J Lau’s ground game will make the difference!

  6. Random Person

Joe would RAPE Pettis. Not based off his fight with Guillard either. Joe would rape Petteis regardless.

  7. The Xperience

Pettis got this pretty easy… Lauzon’s win over Guillard was a fluke.. He got lucky. Pettis however will destroy Lauzon and I wanna see that fight! Dec 31 would be sweet!!!

    • Mo

Just like Lauzon’s submission of Jeremy Stephens? Wise up…

    • Stin

A fluke!? Is it really a fluke that he threw a punch at guillards face and hit it? Is it really a fluke to hit exactly what you are aiming at?
And the choke? Are you absolutely certain that THAT was a fluke!?

Or maybe Joe did EXACTLY, what he wanted and hit all the right places.

    • effyocouch

Got lucky? Guillard got tagged, then got submitted, because that’s what Lauzon does. He’s a submission artist. No luck here man, just technique.

    • lolz

about the fuckin dumbest thing i read all morning..

  8. BiggoTrav

To Pettis’ credit, he is probably the only man alive who looked less gay after growing a faux hawk.

  9. J-Lau would dominate like he does most his other fights.

  10. Coffee409

Another “sub of the night” for Lauzon.

  11. Creature

It would be a good fight, i think the winner would depend on if Lauzon could take pettis down a few times, standing Lauzon is underrated but hes not as good at Pettis, Ground Pettis is good, but Lauzon is great. Good fight.

But id rather see Pettis/Cerrone (:

    • The thing is Joe isn’t afraid to strike…You saw against Melvin he didn’t run away Melvin’s other opponents, he stayed in the pocked it rocked him. People underestimate Lauzon every fight. I’m glad he’s taking big fights to get the respect he deserves.

      • *like Melvin’s other opponents.

      • Creature

Sir i never said he was afraid to strike.. i know hes not, and hes pretty good, thats why i said hes underrated. I just think Pettis has the better striking. Lauzon seems more boxer oriented while Pettis is very diverse and i think that would be the deciding factor in the stand up between the 2 of them

  12. Tyler Kartler

Lauzon can take Pettis.. His stand up is underrated and and good ground skills. I can just see him maybe get out wrestled and get tired, but I’ll go with Joe

  13. Nick

    I think Pettis.

  14. P R O D I G Y

Lauzon got outstruck by Stout Pettis would take it to him standing and Lauzon dosent have good enough wrasslin to get him and hold him down

  15. The natural

Not ur fight lauzon. ur for guys who think there ko’s are there weapons pettis is only so so par wit everything but has a nasty traingle and so are u but wit a better all around grnd game bad match up for u my dude it will just let pettis look good to control u next one’s for u anybody else in lw div will walk all over pettis a step up from Stephens

  16. DaRuckuz

samething i said about da melvin fight,Lauzon will win.
