MMA NEWS – Shinya Aoki Books Satoru Kitaoka For Year End Show

Shinya Aoki has finally booked an opponent for DREAM’s year end event and it comes in the form of his former teammate and Sengoku champion Satoru Kitaoka. The bout will be for Aoki’s lightweight title.

“DREAM: Fight for Japan. How are you! New Year 2011.” is set to take place on Dec. 31 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan and it’s expected to air on HDNet in some capacity.

Aoki last saw action at DREAM 17 this past September when he went up against former WEC champion, Rob McCullough. He outclassed McCullough in route to a first round victory via neck crank.

Kitaoka was last seen at DREAM 17 and bested Brazils Shooto Champion, William Freire via split decision. The bout marked his promotional debut.

The lightweight title bout will likely serve as the evening’s main event.

    Come to the UFC already

whatever for? a place where most of its athletes take PEDs to outperform the other.

it is the Ultimate Fake Championships

    • :)

lol the athletic commission tests athletes in America, but in japan there is no commission so the testing is done by the promoter. AKA fighters in the Japaneses circuit are much much worse then the American circuit just look at all the Japaneses fighters or fighters that started their carrier there, they never ever do as good in the American circuit because they are not on roids any more (look at the reem) hope i made a difference in your way of thinking..

Kitaoka’s ground game is off the charts. I’d be surprised if the win came by sub.

I’ll be a skeptic. A sub win over Kitaoka would surprise me. Furthermore; he’s shared the mat with Aoki for a long time. He knows his rolling patterns, making it that more difficult. Neither is a great striker. Good match-up. A couple of Japans best ground MMA guys. Decision win for Aoki, or ground and pound finish for Kit.. My final answer.
