UFC NEWS – Overeem Not Big Enough To Beat JDS, Will Lose By Knockout, Says “Big Nog”

“Cigano wins via knockout, I’m sure of that. He’s a lot faster, knows how to move, he won’t get that knee, and he’s much more complete and has much more stamina, and that’ll make a great difference. Overeem has never defeated someone as big as Cigano. Alistair Overeem is a lot bigger, stronger, more explosive, but not big enough to beat Junior dos Santos.”

Coach and mentor to the UFC’s heavyweight champion, “Big Nog” tells Brazilian media outlet, Tatame.com that he believes his pupil will defeat the latest number one contender Alistair Overeem.

In this striker vs. striker matchup man point to the different styles each fighter possesses. For “The Reem” it’s the highest level of kickboxing and for JDS it’s superb boxing,

Both skillsets have earned the two world championships but in locked in a cage under the UFC banner for the heavyweight world title whose style will prevail?

WTF is “Alistair Overeem is a lot bigger, stronger, more explosive, but not big enough to beat Junior dos Santos.” supposed to mean?

    • Mo

It means that Nog is still on pain killers and doesn’t know what he is talking about.

      • brandon

It means that he is faster and better then him in every apsect of the game! Standup you need speed and speed wins over slow ass people like him and dont even talk about the ground game we all know overeem doesnt have any. Hes got kicks and neeks thats it his boxing wont even touch jr… Jr wins by ko because overeems fat and slow!

        • KidRerro

Really Overeem doesnt have a ground game? 19 out of his 36 wins are by submission. Im a huge JDS fan but you my friend do not know what the hell you are talking about.

        • Breno

          Amem to that broww

        • carlos

Timing beats speed everytime…Learnt that playing Fight Night

        • Steven

Agree, Alistair is good, but his down fall is his fail to come back from adversity, and of course his glass jaw, I knew that before even Bas Rutten even said it

          • You knew he had a glass jaw from all of those 6 (T)KO losses in 47 fights against KO specialists, after horrible weight cuts in the 205 division?

If Werdum or a few other chumps would have KO’d him it would be a sign of a glass jaw.

But getting KO’d by renowned KO specialists after very tough weight cuts in the 205 division isn’t a sign someone has a glass jaw dude.

        • Cap

cigano will win. when the legend said that overeem is not big enough it meant no one in the world can beat cigano right now, let alone in the ufc (where the best fighters are @). did any one see the verdum vs. overeem fight? that shit sucked bcuz verdum did not want to stand and overeem did not want test the jui jitsue. what did cigano do to verdum? if overeem is so big and bad why didnt he ko weak ass verdum. and did u guys forget that cigano basically ended carwins career. put it like this im taking all bets on this fight. JdS up! who would like to lose money!!!!!

          • danriverapv

JR did not end carwins career or ever come close to doing so. Carwin is battling recurring back issues. that has nothing to do with the beating Cigano put on him.

          • J Dog

JDS and Werdum were two totally different fights! I love how people who know nothing about MMA try to compare the fights against the same opponent. Werdum did NOT know JDS had knock out power and he NEVER tried to take it to the ground, but against Reem he KNEW he would be KTFO’ed so he tried to get it to the ground. Not saying JDS isn’t good, but don’t try to compare the single opponent in common, if anything say that JDS woke up Werdum and he realized he shouldn’t stand with ANYONE ANYMORE. JDS didn’t KO Carwin he didn’t KO Roy, he DID KO Cain but Congo even rocked Cain. We all remember Arlovski don’t we he is the guy that DID KO Roy, so to say JDS WILL KO Reem is a possibility, but clearly Reem has a chance and if I was to bet I would personally be betting on Reem. I think Reem will pick him apart with kicks which will translate to less power in JDS’s punching because he legs will look like ground beef by the end of the 1st round

        • jakdjasd

If anything junior has no ground game but i still favor him to win we all know alistar wont try to take him down

          • Ninja Oreo Dollop

He does have a ground game its just he doesn’t have to use it. Especially with impeccable takedown defense. His takedown defense might only be rivaled by Jon Jones.

      • weaver

        ^^^ hahahaha

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop

What it means is that it doesn’t matter who you put in front of Cigano they are getting KTFO.

    • Big nog still in shock a white boy snapped his chicken wing by way of a Kimura! What else is nog going to say.. Overeem will win no doubt about it!

    • syche

It means the same thing it meant when he faced Carwin dude

  2. Jimmmmmmy

JDS wins via Reem peeing himself due to standing in front of a real champion!

  3. cody

i cant stand this hype behind overreem omfg he beat brock i was a huge brock fan but come on half of brocks skill was hype he had no stand up and 2 major surgerys and imo verdum beat allister i think jds is gonna ware allister out and tko him in the 3rd

    • Mo

Hype ?? He was the strikeforce and Dream heavyweight champion..and he won the K1 grand prix. He deserves some respect because he’s earned it.

    • Hype…right, 3 world title belts and yeah ofcourse it’s all hype. I’m not saying he will beat JDS easily, or maybe he won’t even beat him at all if JDS lands one of those overhand rights in the right spot.

But you and all the other Overeem haters don’t know what you are talking about. The man paid his dues and proved himself. Show some respect!

A while ago the exact same people said he was hype and wouldn’t beat Lesnar. You all said he would get taken down. Well, we all know what happened right?

      • JMad

some people just don’t know what’s really up. All the people at the bar going for Brock looked so stupid after he got liver kicked, I think I was the only one rooting for the Reem in there. And all the douches that were booing Diaz then by round 2 they didn’t wanna say shit.

    • Donnybrook

Another narrow minded “UFC” fan spewing nonsense… the man holds three belts in other organizations… yes believe it or not there’s other organizations besides the UFC, try educating yourself and watch some of them.

  4. nick

I don’t doubt JDS at all, but saying reem is not big enough and has never fought anyone that big is a little weird when he just beat lesnar who is bigger than jds. Unless he means ‘big’ as in skilled. Reem is 260lbs bro

  5. Nog is right and overeem may be bigger but he is not more explosive the jds chec the highlight reel. Jds first round knocc out. Ima fan of overeem but dos santos is a different breed just can’t see him being stopped. It doesn’t take muscles to win, overeem won’t be fast enough. Exciting fight tho

  6. Carl Batista

I’ll wait and see how good JDS can defend his title . . . that is when we can say he’s truly a great champion.

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop

That’s true and we will see who his true fans are. I will still on the side of JDS regardless of the outcome because these guys beat the crap out of each other for a living.

  7. don’t know about not being more explosive… he’s taking out a lot of good people with explosiveness!

  8. Mo

I think JDS’s boxing is too good, but I’m still going for Reem.

  9. Robbie Wiggins

Cigano is gonna have to rumble in this one. Anyone that thinks Overeem is a pushover is sadly mistaken. This will be a superfight cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  10. JDS better learn how to check legkicks, cause Overeem’s legkicks can’t be taken lightly.

For me it will be a weird fight cause I think they’re both great fighters. I just honestly think Overeem has the better stand-up. And being Dutch I think it’s time for another Dutch UFC champ.

Nog says Overeem hasn’t faced anyone like JDS yet. That might be true, but JDS hasn’t faced anyone like Overeem yet either.

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop

Overeem better get a chin implant because his is useless.

      • Really? 6 (T)KO’s in 47 fights? He got knocked out by some renowned KO specialists in the 205. That doesn’t show he got a weak chin bro. If he got KO’d by some chumps it would, but not now.

    • Nog is just trying some positive re-inforcement and self-fulfilling prophecy on JDS. But the one comment is tell-tale: they are worried about him landing that vicious knee!! Bye, bye…. go to sleep.

      • Ninja Oreo Dollop

Everyone in HW division should be afraid of Overeem’s knees but JDS isn’t Brock Lesnar or Brett Rogers or Werdum. This is Overeem’s biggest test in years and Cigano will have taken out two legends in his career Cro Cop and Overeem both K1 kick boxers.

        • It’s going to be a great fight! If they get into a standing grapple, in the center, or especially up against the fence, JDS is in big trouble. This is what Overeem likes to do to guys and it’s very hard for guys to out-grapple him when he has them in the clinch, because he is so damn powerful. You may push him away from you eventually, but not before eating a huge shot of some sort. If JDS doesn’t earn his respect quickly with a hard shot or two, he is gonna get mauled up against the fence by the big, bad Reembear!

          • Ninja Oreo Dollop

If things get hairy for JDS I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw some of his unseen BJJ. But, of Overeem’s last couple fights I think he is also too stiff for JDS. This is ending in KO or submission. Most likely KO since JDS has awesome take down defense.

          • mmaislandjunkie

shane carwin would murder overeem. overeem has ZERO chance against jds. only way reem wins is if jds fights with one arm tied behind his back with injuries to his legs. if he can move forward and backward and use both fists, reem will end up like this guy…
            http://cdn2.cagepotato.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/PE1_proelite3.gif

          • Ninja Oreo Dollop

Lol great visual aid to prove your point Junkie. I’m sure jerking it is normal when your KO’ed.

          • mmaislandjunkie

i wouldnt know but maybe a guy whos been knocked out professionally almost 10 times can answer that, right mr. overeem?

          • Yeah junkie..Reem has zero chance! He should turn this fight down and shouldn’t show up just like against Lesnar right? Keep reinforcing your insecurity. The Reem will win this fight..it will be a great fight unlike what u might think.

          • junkie..it’s 6 times and in 47 fights. Couture got KO’d 6 times too, but in 30 fights…You’re talking nonsense like the rest this time.

          • JMad

c’mon junkie, i usually agree with you. but i don’t think carwin would murder reem, i think it’d be a good fight though. i think you need to give allistair a little more credit. 6 tko’s in all those fights isn’t bad. cant wait to see jds vs reem, i’m more of a fan of styles so i like both of these guys

      • Throwing knees/kicking are natural instinct for the Reem if Jds gets close enuf to even throw a punch..LIVER KICK then knees in the face bitchess!

        • Ninja Oreo Dollop

Werdum got real close… Several times. I didn’t see this liver kick of which you speak.

          • Werdum got nowhere lol. Yeah on his back begging and kissing Overeem’s feet…And kicking was not that easy with a broken toe.

          • Ninja Oreo Dollop

Werdum could have won if he wasn’t being am idiot. Take him down and quit begging! Though it was entertaining lol when he put his hands together. Overeem may have an extensive record of submission but did he really think a K1 champ would roll on the ground with him? Nope!

  11. Steve-O

    No wonder…. –

“Coach and mentor (Big Nog) to the UFC’s heavyweight champion (JDS), Big Nog tells….”

Hes not exactly going to put his guy down saying how Reem could win this ;)

Anyone that says Reem is crap obviously doesnt understand MMA. Reem and JDS are both top fighters anything can happen so realy everyone will just have to wait and see on fight night..

  12. Ninja Oreo Dollop

CIGANO! ALL DAY, ALL THE TIME! Lets do it champ!

  13. Overeem by ASS WHOOPING!!

  14. Mike

Im just all out excited for this fight and i cant wait for it to happen and when it starts happening ill probably be saying i cant believe this fight is about you happen. Im expecting a sick fight and for both fighters to fight their heart out.

  15. Zyro

I can’t beileve all the Reem haters on here just because he did all his work outside the UFC. Lets get real folks this is a fight of two high level established fighters. This is purely a match of speed vs strength. Reem is has the one punch knock out power along with powerful kicks and JDS has the speed and boxing skill to continually land hands all day so you cannot count either one out.

  16. Brock will have 10 big breakfast orders waiting for JDS to share with at the “All you can Eat My Knees Diner”, after they finish his MRI and CT scans across the street.

  17. DeepSeaGod

What are u….a fortune teller Big Nog? You didn’t see your arm hanging on Frank’s wall did ya!!??

  18. mmaguy

i don’t get, overeem has never beat someone as big as dos santos? wasn’t lesnar bigger than even overeem, big nog’s getting alittle delusional.

  19. joseph diaz

All you people aurguing are stupid! Itz already obvious jds is gunna knock alistar out jds will take thoose kicks out by hitting him so hard tht he’s gunna be worried bout his face then he’s gunna take out his body nd then ding ding ding ko fightz over lightz out nd still the ufc heavyweight champion of the world junior “CIGANO” dos santos!!!!
