UFC on FOX 2 is set to take place on Saturday (tomorrow), January 27 from The United Center. In the main event, Phil Davis will square off with Rashad Evans for the number one contender seat in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division ruled over by Jon Jones. The co-feature of the evening is a middleweight number one contender bout between Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen. The televised main card is available for free on FOX and the preliminary portion is set for FUEL.

I took some time last night to poll some of my favorite fighters for predictions regarding tomorrow night’s UFC on FOX 2 main event between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis.

Here is what they had to say:

BART PALASZEWSKI (UFC): “I think Rashad is going to win. Phil’s awesome but if I had to bet I would put my money on Rashad.”

ALAN BELCHER (UFC): “I like both guys personally and I want to support both.”

CLAUDE PATRICK (UFC): “Rashad is a more seasoned and battle tested fighter. Phil’s no joke but skill for skill I think he is out gunned in this match.”

DEMETRIOUS JOHNSON (UFC): “Man it’s gonna be a tough one. I have no comment but I will just pick Phil Davis.”

JACOB VOLKMANN (UFC): “I’m rooting for Rashad; I don’t know the other guy.”

DANNY CASTILLO (UFC): “I’m going with Rashad. He has better stand up and a speed advantage. He also has more experience in big fights, plus the “Blackzilians” desperately need a win.”

JENS PULVER (UFC CHAMPION – former): “Going with Phil on this not sure how, three rounds most likely.”

JOSH THOMSON (UFC/ STRIKEFORCE CHAMPION – former): “Phil Davis to win by decision.”

DENNIS HALLMAN (UFC): “Man, I hate to ever pick against a Div. 1 national wrestling champ but I just think that Evans is a more complete fighter. Evans by dec.”

JOE DUARTE (STRIKEFORCE): “I got Phil, he’s a crazy dude. He can win a game of monopoly without owning any property.”

ANTONIO BANUELOS (WEC/UFC/DREAM): “Phil and Sonnen”

TREVOR PRANGLEY (UFC / STRIKEFORCE): “Phil”

ABEL NUNEZ (STRIKING COACH, MARK MUNOZ): “If Phil can get this to the ground he will win. If Rashad can impose his game plan it’s all Rashad.”

TIM HAGUE (UFC – former): “I have Rashad TKO round three and Chael TKO round 1.”

SHANE NELSON (UFC – former): “I got Rashad TKO third round via strikes.”

JUSTIN BUCHHOLZ (UFC – former): “Rashad, this is MMA not a wrestling match. Davis deltoids can only handle throwing so many punches. 50% sure on this one.”

PHIL BARONI (UFC/STRIKEFORCE/PRIDE – former): “Phil is the better wrestler but I think Rashad has the edge because of more big fight experience. And I want to see Rashad vs. Jones, but Phil is very capable of winning a decision. Being an NCAA D1 champ means Phil knows how to win and perform when the pressure is on. Rashad as well knows what it takes to win being a former UFC champion. Or maybe no, lol.”

JASON BRILZ (UFC – former): “I got Phil. He has been in high pressure situations before, I see him frustrating Rashad.”

EDDIE BRAVO (BJJ/ 10th planet coach/founder extraordinaire): “That’s too close to call but I’ll go with Rashad in this one. Knock out standing.”

PAUL KELLY (UFC): “I am gonna go with Rashad. I think experience will play a key factor in this fight! Also how will Phil deal with the magnitude of what’s in front of him, headlining a UFC is massive as a fighter?

I am more interested in the outcome of the Bisping fight. I think Mike wins with fast feet, fast hands and the fact that they are equally talented trash talkers this fight should be main.”
