Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson Books Matt Brown For UFC 145 In Atlanta

UFC 145 has just received a welterweight edition to its already stacked roster of fights in the form of Stephen Thompson vs. Matt Brown.

UFC officials just announced the matchup moments ago.

UFC 145 is set to go down from Atlanta’s Phillips Arena on April 21, in the main event light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will attempt to defend his UFC title against bitter rival Rashad Evans.

Both fighters are making quick turnarounds from their UFC 143 appearances. Both knocked out their opponents in preliminary card action on last weekend’s fight card.

For Thompson it was his long awaited UFC debut. Hit “Knock out of the Night” performance as well as his slick karate style of fighting has left fans wanting to see more.

Facing Thompson is the always tough and durable Matt Brown. Brown, who knocked out Chris Cope last weekend, will look to spoil the rise of the UFC’s newest welterweight prospect.

The two fighters are strike first, ground second mentalists and this bout is sure to deliver fireworks.

I want to see the wonderboy again…he’s got potential.

  2. Koshchek Loves Cock

Ouch! Sayonara Matt Brown. What did you say to Dana?

  3. Ninja Oreo Dollop

Stephen Thompson by sick head kick! Sorry Matt Brown, I think Dana and Joe Silva have it out for you. Chris Cope’s days are numbered as well. He was beating Matt Brown before Brown KO’ed him if my memory is correct.

  4. Tim

    Thompson easy W.

Wonderboy is just a guy we want to see in the octagon against better fighters while Matt Brown, despite having put on great shows in the past, doesn’t have any chance at winning a UFC belt. Did you see Thompson’s last fight? His standup was just perfect. His kicks neutralized his opponent all the fight, before knocking his opponent out.

    Wonderboy all day, everyday.

I’ve always been a Matt Brown fan, he knows how to put on a good show, and he knows how to finish opponents..doubt he’ll win a belt but who knows. Only thing for certain, this fight isn’t going 3 rounds. Matt Brown for the win.

in a clash of two of the worst nicknames in mma…i have Thompson FTW…Brown’s style is more brawling and i think Thompson will just eat him up with his more accurate striking. they both knocked out pretty weak oponents at 143 so they’ll be a good test for each otehr. IMHO

  11. I’ve been a Matt Brown fan since TUF but Wonderboy is an awesome guy and even better fighter. I see Brown getting KO’d in this one. I almost feel bad for him….
