Is Ronda Rousey The New Tank Abbott?

UFC co-creator Campbell McLaren made quite the confusing comment to Fox Sports the other day. He compared undefeated womens UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, to early MMA pioneer Tank Abbott.

For those who don’t know, McLaren co-founded the UFC with Rorion Gracie and Art Davie back in 1993.

McLaren backed up his comparison of Rousy and Abbott by saying:

“She’s the first fighter to open up a new audience to the UFC and MMA. She’s smart, she can talk, she’s tough. She has real fight credentials. She’s got it all.”

McLaren went on to explain how Tank brought many similarities to early Mixed Martial Arts competition with his trash talk, which he would back up with his toughness in the cage.
