VIDEO | Conor McGregor UFC 205 open workout at Madison Square Garden, sinks a basketball shot to end it
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor put on an open workout for the media ahead of his UFC 205 main event title fight against UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
“The Notorious” has a chance to make history in New York City on Saturday night with a win over Alvarez by becoming the first simultaneous two-weight UFC champion, carrying the title of champion of both the UFC’s 145 and 155-pound divisions. That is all if McGregor does, in fact, beat Alvarez in their title bout slated to take place at 155 pounds.
McGregor has been in New York preparing for the fight drawing interest from the masses and showed how he is moving just days ahead of the fight in the open workout.
“It means the world to me. That’s why I kept pushing on it,” McGregor said of fighting in the historic Madison Square Garden.
“I’ve been working really hard for the fans and I couldn’t let this, I wouldn’t miss this event,” said the featherweight champion. “No way. I built this event, so, here I am.”
McGregor gave his “Mystic Mac” prediction before calling an end to his open workout and questions from UFC’s Megan Olivi.
“One round KO,” McGregor stated as he walked away with hand raised to the sky.
Will we see Conor McGregor make history in the UFC’s first event in New York and stamp his name in the history books of Madison Square Garden on November 12 along with legends such as Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier? Or will the lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez spoil the Irish superstar’s massive moment and shine in the bright spotlight himself?
