When Bellator gave their welterweight champion an unconditional release from the promotion, UFC President Dana White expressed zero interest in the acquisition. However, his very public proclamation of disinterest isn’t stopping the two parties from a closed door meeting to discuss the possibility today in Vegas .

The night showcased the Bellator Middleweight World Championship with Alexander Shlemenko defending his belt against Doug Marshall with a first round knockout. The event also featured the Bellator Welterweight and Lightweight Tournament Finals with Rick Hawn finishing Ron Keslar to win his second Bellator tournament in two different weigh classes and Will Brooks defeating Tiger Sarnavskiy in the lightweight final. Matt Riddle (7-3 MMA) is once again a free agent, as Bellator officials recently announced that the welterweight fighter has been released by the promotion. Riddle was expected to face Nathan Coy on the main card of Bellator 109, which goes down this weekend in Matt’s home state of Pennsylvania. However, due to reasons not yet public, Riddle has decided to withdraw from the scheduled welterweight bout.

Galvao transitioned at will from back mount to full mount and almost locked in the rear naked choke a number of times.
