Pound-for-pound boxing great Canelo Alvarez responded to the recent boxing challenge put up by UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Alvarez steps back into the boxing ring on Saturday night when he takes on Caleb Plant in a fight that takes place in Las Vegas. On the other side of the country, Usman defends his UFC welterweight title when he takes on his archrival Colby Covington. Should Usman defeat Covington, and the betting odds indicate that he should be a big favorite to get his hand raised in this fight, then expect him to continue chasing a superfight in boxing with Alvarez, especially if he goes out there on Saturday night and finishes Plant in boxing.

Usman is one of the best MMA fighters on the planet right now, and on November 6 at UFC 268 in New York City, he rematches his rival Colby Covington for the UFC welterweight title. Usman is a big favorite to win the rematch after knocking out Covington the first time they met two years ago, and if he wins this fight, there won’t be too many fresh challenges left for him at 170lbs. While it’s expected that he could fight someone such as Leon Edwards should he get by Covington next month, his manager is shooting for something bigger.

Ahead of the fight, Alvarez and Plant took part in the pre-fight press conference. Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant had their first press conference for their fight on November 6 and it ended with the two throwing punches at one another. After the press conference, the two had a faceoff where they were exchanging words and Alvarez pushed Plant. When they got close to each other the two then threw punches which Alvarez says was due to Plant saying stuff about his mom.

Paul is 3-0 as a professional boxer and on August 29 he takes on former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the most high-profile fight of his career to date. Should Paul defeat Woodley, he plans on calling out UFC superstar Conor McGregor. However, he also believes that a fight against Alvarez, the top P4P boxer on the planet, is also feasible.

Boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya accused Canelo Alvarez of ducking Jermell Charlo, and Alvarez issued a scathing response to the accusation. In reply to a post on Instagram of Alvarez teaching a young fighter boxing technique, De La Hoya and Alvarez got into a back-and-forth argument on social media after the Golden Boy executive accused Alvarez of ducking Jermell Charlo. Not only that, but De La Hoya also criticized his former client for his boxing skills, suggesting that Alvarez leads his head up when he throws hooks and that he walks around the ring flat-footed. Alvarez was absolutely livid with the comments that De La Hoya made and he quickly fired back at him.

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn explained why Billy Joe Saunders did not get off the stool for round nine vs. Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night. Saunders took on Alvarez on Saturday night in a massive boxing event at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The fight was fairly competitive throughout, but Alvarez was slightly up on points at the end of the eighth round. After the round break was over, Saunders chose to not get off the stool and the fight was called. According to Hearn, Saunders broke his orbital bone and his team made the decision not to let him go back out for round nine.
