Pros react to instant classic Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury bout
Last night, Deontay Wilder attempted to defend his WBC heavyweight title opposite resurgent Englishman Tyson Fury.
The pair battled for the full 12 rounds. Tyson Fury dominated the majority of the bout, befuddling his smaller opponent with his range, quickness and often impenetrable defense. That being said, it was Wilder who authored the two biggest moments of the fight: knockdowns in the eight and twelfth rounds — the latter being particularly incredible.
By the time the final bell chimed, it was clear that we had a fairly close fight on our hands. That being said, the widespread perception seemed to be that Fury had done enough to earn a decision win in spite of the two 10-8 rounds Wilder earned with his knockdowns.
As such, it should come as no surprise that were some interesting reactions on Twitter when it was announced the bout was a draw.
Here are some of the best reactions to Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury — not just from their fellow boxers, but also from some MMA stars and a few stars of the larger sporting world.
This #WilderFury judging takes me back to my first fight with @holyfield Just goes to show how hard it is for a Brit to come to America and take someone’s belt even tho that’s what we clearly saw. Big up to @Tyson_Fury who never ceases to amaze me. Hold ur head high! 👊🏾💥

With this controversial outcome, both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury keep their undefeated records intact, now sitting at 40-0-1 and 27-0-1 apiece.
While it is not official just yet, it seems very likely that the pair rematch sometime in the New Year. That being said, the allure of a massive showdown with undefeated champion Anthony Joshua might be enough to deter Wilder from partaking in an immediate rematch with Fury. Time will tell.
