Triller Fight Club put on their second legends event but this time around, the pay-per-view buys were not good. In the main event of Triller Fight Club Legends 2, 58-year-old Evander Holyfield stepped up on short notice to take on Vitor Belfort. The co-main event saw Anderson Silva box Tito Ortiz while David Haye also took on Joe Fournier. Despite the fact, the event had a bunch of well-known fighters, the pay-per-view bombed as it only did around 150,000 buys, according to boxing journalist, Dan Rafael.

UFC legend Vitor Belfort issued a statement following his first-round TKO win over legendary boxer Evander Holyfield in their boxing match. Belfort fought Holyfield in the main event of the Triller Fight Club boxing card this past Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. “The Phenom” didn’t need long to take care of business as he was able to finish Holyfield with strikes in the first round. It’s an intriguing matchup and to add to the fight, Tyson will be in attendance for the bout and Triller hopes if Holyfield wins, they will make Tyson vs. Holyfield 3.

Considering he is 58 years old and stepping up on very short notice to take this fight against a dangerous opponent in Belfort, it’s understandable why California said no. The 44-year-old Belfort was supposed to fight fellow combat sports legend, 48-year-old Oscar De La Hoya, this weekend at Triller Fight Club’s upcoming boxing event, but the fight was canceled after De La Hoya contracted COVID-19. Instead of canceling the card, Triller was able to get Holyfield to step up on short notice and take the fight. However, the California State Athletic Commission did not sanction the fight due to Holyfield being 58 years old and taking the fight on one week’s notice. Instead, the card shifted to Florida.

Rather than scrapping the entire event, the promotion was able to get a short-notice replacement in the form of Evander Holyfield to step in and take the fight against Belfort. However, because Holyfield is 58 years old, the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight to take place in the state. Instead, Triller will move the entire event to Florida.
