Floyd Mayweather Jr. releases statement on Muhammad Ali’s death
Friday evening the combat sports community mourned the loss of legendary boxer and cultural icon Muhammad Ali.
While numerous members of the MMA community, including Conor McGregor, took to social media to react to the death of Ali, boxer Floyd Mayweather, who calls himself ‘The Best Ever’ spoke to Kevin Iole to give his thoughts on Ali’s passing:
“I am truly saddened to hear that we have lost such a great man. He was truly great inside the ring, but moreso outside the ring because he was a great ambassador for human life and peace. He set an unbelievable example for many generation to come. My heart and prayers go out to his family. It is truly a sad day.”
Ali was 74 at the time of his passing, and was initially hospitalized with respiratory issues, which quickly turned more severe as the former champ was put on life support Friday afternoon before his passing.
