Floyd Mayweather Sr. says Mayweather-McGregor rematch is “being talked about”
Over the last few weeks, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s beef has heated back up, as the undefeated boxer and Irish MMA superstar have exchanged a bit of trash talk on Twitter.
These recent skirmishes have Floyd Mayweather’s father believing that Mayweather and McGregor will fight again. In his eyes, Conor McGregor is probably eager for the opportunity to try to avenge his 2017 loss to Mayweather.
”It’s sounding like him and Conor McGregor are going to fight,” he told Helen Yee (transcript via MMAMania). “That’s what it sounds like. I don’t know for sure, but I’m just saying the way things are sounding to me. It sounds like [Floyd’s] going to fight again, and Conor McGregor, he wants to fight again. Even though he don’t want to fight again, but he’ll fight again just to show his people what he can do – which is nothing.”
”This time here, I’m gonna make sure that he gets stretched out,” Floyd Sr. said. “All the way out of the game. I want to make sure he don’t come back no more.”
In the past, talks about a potential Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor rematch have suggested the fight could occur in the UFC’s Octagon. Mayweather Sr., however, feels the rematch would probably just be another boxing match. Whatever the case, he assures McGregor will never be able to avenge his loss.
”I’m just saying, I think they’re gonna fight the same way,” he said. “I think Conor McGregor wants that win back that he had, which is never coming back to him anyways. It’s being talked about and it sounds like a lot of interest is in it right now.”
Do you think we’ll see Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather fight again before all is said and done?
