It’s the Tuesday of fight week, but Conor McGregor’s boxing match of the century with Floyd Mayweather just keeps getting larger and larger. The growth truly is exponential. Other UFC fighters are promoting the fight on their respective social media platforms, there are no UFC cards until the boxing match is over, the Nevada State Athletic Commission even threw out their rules, and The Killers recorded a second music video of a song specifically for McGregor vs. Mayweather.  What is it now, you ask? We’re getting so close to Conor McGregor stepping into the ring with Floyd Mayweather that you can practically taste the money flying around in the air. Speaking of moolah, did everyone know that this pay-per-view is going to set people back $99 plus tax and other hidden charges? To some people, that’s just too steep. Going to a bar to watch it is also exhausting, the volume is never right and you’re around drunk, screaming people doing the McGregor strut. Floyd Mayweather is less than one week out from returning to the boxing ring after coming out of retirement to fight current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in the boxing ring. Mayweather, now 40-years-old, has stated numerous times in the buildup to this fight that he certainly isn’t the same boxer he was 10 years ago and admitted he isn’t even the same boxer from just two years ago. However, Mayweather has stated that although not the same man he once was, he still has was it takes to beat Conor McGregor in the boxing ring.

This Saturday, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will battle undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., and it’s all anybody can talk about. The fight is expected to shatter all combat sports pay-per-view records, and go down as one of the most lucrative events in combat sports history. Given this, it’s hard not to wonder about similar future fights pitting MMA stars against boxers. On Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, Nevada Athletic Commission director Bob Bennett discussed this possibility. Apparently, this Mayweather vs. McGregor crossover fight will remain a one-off for the moment, but future research into various aspects of the fight could change that.

This Saturday, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will step into the boxing ring to battle undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. The fight is tracking to be one of the biggest in combat sports history, and one that could smash all previous pay-per-view records. Former Strikeforce champ and current Bellator star Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal, however, will not be buying. The light heavyweight and occasional heavyweight explained why on a recent episode of MMAJunkie Radio. In his opinion, it’s too much of a mismatch in Mayweather’s favor to even warrant consideration. He’ll simply watch the highlights later.

It’s for this reason that pop superstar Justin Bieber has reportedly dialled back his friendship with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. According to a report from TMZ, Bieber and his team, under the influence of a pastor at this church, were a little put off by Mayweather’s interest in strip clubs (the boxer owns a venue in Las Vegas called “Girl Collection”). They have decided to loosen ties with him as a result, just days ahead of his massive, boxing showdown with UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor.

Paulie Malignaggi said that Conor McGregor fights dirty and still has to learn about the difference between inside fighting used in boxing and in mixed martial arts. Floyd Mayweather even commented during his media conference call on Thursday regarding the short clips of McGregor and Malignaggi sparring and said that he saw some illegal shots being thrown by the UFC lightweight champion. However, come fight night, Mayweather said that he will do his job and worry about fighting while he will let the referee in the ring do his job and ref the fight.

There’s a pot show about everything you can think of: Court cases, a cooking show that only makes edibles, even a show where people get high and watch professional wrestling. That’s when it hit me in the head like a Nick Diaz nunchaku strike, where is the weed MMA show at? That’s why I decided to toke up, put on a headset and created the (Not So) Secret Smoke Show. Oh sh-t, did I just speak in the first person? I sure did, reader. I’ll break the fourth wall too, because rules don’t really matter. We live in a world where Conor McGregor, a guy who has never boxed before in his life, can fight Floyd Mayweather and they’ll convince you it’s a proper athletic contest. Hell, even the Nevada State Athletic Commission threw out all of their long-standing traditions and rubric because f-ck it, this is the biggest fight ever in the history of all human existence. So big in fact, that I had to use the startling opening theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey in my latest episode in order to give it some gravitas, or balls, whichever you prefer.

UFC events have been put on hold until after the boxing match, fighters are being asked to submit their prediction videos to be proliferated through social media, the Nevada State Athletic Commission even threw out their rules, what else does Mayweather/McGregor have in store for us? A big budget music video, that’s what. You could waste an entire year of your life perusing through all the hot takes involving this freak show boxing bout. Anyone can waste their time debating a faceless avatar on Twitter on the nuances of upcoming fight, but some put their time to good use. An R/MMA user on Reddit named Trap_City_Bitch analyzed the stats through the last 10 of Mayweather’s fights, resulting in some simply intimidating numbers.

As the spectacle of Conor McGregor boxing Floyd Mayweather draws near, the media parade heats up. Mayweather is fresh from his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about the fight and said some interesting things. Despite talks of the fight not selling as well as people thought, Mayweather says it’s on track to beat the numbers his fight with Manny Pacquiao generated. As far as McGregor, Mayweather is so confident he will win that he guaranteed Kimmel he would pay back his bet if he lost. It will be interesting to see where the lines shift with the announcement of their fight’s glove change. “Whatever you bet [on me], and if you don’t win, I’l give it back to you. You’ve got my word.”
