Over the weekend, Deontay Wilder tasted defeat for the first time, succumbing to a volley of seventh-round punches from Tyson Fury. This first loss also marked the end of Wilder’s reign as WBC heavyweight champion. While Wilder is no doubt disappointed with the way things unfolded in the ring on Saturday night, he’s received well-wishes from many members of the combat sports community. Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather says he is open to a rematch against UFC superstar Conor McGregor provided the money’s right. Mayweather and McGregor first met in the summer of 2017 for a boxing superfight that shattered all sorts of financial records. Though Mayweather totally outclassed McGregor in that fight and finished him via 10th-round TKO, there have always been rumors that a rematch could eventually happen due to the sheer amount of money that is potentially available for both men to make.

A police report filed in Miami accused Floyd Mayweather of assault at a Miami hotel. However, all parties have agreed that Mayweather never put his hands on the accuser. On February 1, the day before the Super Bowl, 32-year old Ricco Kimborough claimed he recognized Floyd Mayweather who was standing at the valet stand with his security team at the Fontainebleau Hilton at around 8.30 am.

Dana White has confirmed speculation that a deal is in the works with Floyd Mayweather. Last month, rumours surfaced that the retired boxer would be making a cross-over into MMA. The undefeated 42-year old experienced an MMA clash first hand when he faced the UFC former two-division champion, Conor McGregor in a boxing bout. Mayweather won the 2017 bout by TKO and hasn’t fought since. However, last month he revealed that he has two fights planned for 2020 including a UFC cross-over bout. Rumours were bolstered as photos showed Mayweather sitting at a Basketball game accompanied by Dana White.

Pacquiao’s long-time boxing trainer Freddie Roach says that his team wants this fight, and believes the rematch will go much differently than the pair’s first encounter back in 2015, which Mayweather won via unanimous decision.
