Gervonta Davis didn’t know just how good David Benavidez is until he attended one of his fights. Benavidez is widely regarded as the best possible opponent for undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Canelo is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Jaime Munguia. Benavidez’s next bout will be against Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the interim WBC light heavyweight championship. If Benavidez wins, many will wonder if he’ll go for the Canelo fight or attempt to take down the likes of Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev.

Gervonta Davis is backing his boxing rival Ryan Garcia after his recent drug testing failure. ‘KingRy’ returned to the boxing ring earlier this month in New York. There, Ryan Garcia faced his former amateur rival, Devin Haney. The two fought six times in the amateurs, splitting the series at 3-3. Ultimately, it was Garcia who broke the tie with a dominant decision victory over ‘The Dream’ on DAZN pay-per-view.

Ryan Garcia doesn’t see himself having a rematch against Gervonta “Tank” Davis with the exception of one stipulation. Back in April 2023, Garcia was stopped by “Tank” in the seventh round after receiving a mammoth body shot that he couldn’t recover from. “KingRy” has rebounded with two wins in a row, including the biggest victory of his pro boxing career over Devin Haney this past Saturday. Following Garcia’s win over Haney, many are wondering if it opens the door for a potential rematch between “KingRy” and “Tank.”

The top boxing promotion had seen its fights air on Showtime, but the premium network is doing away with combat sports beginning in January 2024. Gervonta Davis has denied the recent domestic violence allegations made against him. On Wednesday, Davis allegedly struck a woman on the right side of her head with a “closed hand type slap,” leading to his arrest Tuesday afternoon in Florida, according to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office incident report. He was arrested at 2:50 p.m. ET Tuesday on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm, according to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records. Davis remains in custody after a Wednesday morning court hearing, where bail was set at $1,000, a jail official said.
