WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder fought an incredible fight against Tyson Fury. In fact, The American titleholder very nearly finished the resurgent British fighter in the 12th round, scoring a ring-shaking knockdown that would have left lesser men glued to the canvas for minutes. Miraculously, however, Fury was able to return to his feet and survive to the final bell, at which point the ring-side judges ruled the fight a draw.

HBO Boxing is no more. Last Saturday night, the storied boxing franchise aired its final card. The event, which went down in front of a small, quiet crowd in the StubHub Center in Los Angeles, featured victories from Cecilia Braekhus, Claressa Shields, and Juan Francisco Estrada, and several others. Yet perhaps the most memorable moment of the nights was veteran commentator Jim Lampley’s eulogy for HBO Boxing.

This promo, which seems to show Floyd Mayweather scouring the globe for a worthy adversary, is definitely worth watching.

The rules for the much discussed New Years Eve exhibition bout between undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and undefeated kickboxing wunderkind Tenshin Nasukawa have now been released. This bout will be boxing only, though it will be full-contact competition — which implies a knockout is possible. Kicks will not be allowed, which effectively rules out Nasukawa’s best shot at a victory.

Last Saturday night, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder attempted to defend his title against resurgent British star Tyson Fury. After 12 incredible rounds of action, Wilder had done just that — although not quite in the way he’d hoped. While Wilder was hoping for a 40th knockout victory, he instead had to settle for a draw, as his two knockdowns were counterbalanced by Tyson Fury’s performance throughout the rest of the fight.

Unfortunately, this 11th-round knockout resulted in Stevenson being rushed to the hospital, apparently in “critical condition.” On Wednesday, le CHU de Québec-Université Laval, the Quebec hospital where Adonis Stevenson is being cared for, issued an update on the boxer’s situation.

Not only did this fight go down as an instant classic, but it also looks like it was a definite financial success as well. According to a report from The Ring this Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury card is “expected to surpass 300,000 buys.” As The Ring’s report explains, that figure doesn’t include pay-per-view buys in the United Kingdom — of which there were certainly many — or digital purchases made on platforms such as Playstation 4.
