Adam D Martin - September 7, 2021

Boxer Tommy Fury, the younger brother of Tyson Fury, predicts he would KO YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in less than three minutes. Fury defeated former Bellator fighter Anthony Taylor on the undercard of the Paul-Woodley PPV card last weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. Following the event, Fury and Paul met face-to-face backstage and Fury made it clear that he wants to fight Paul next. While Paul has said he’s open to the idea of it, so far the fight hasn’t been booked. As far as Fury goes, Paul wouldn’t last long with him inside of the ring and he understands why he is “ducking” him.

Video | Tito Ortiz reveals he is “probably 212 pounds” just five days out of Anderson Silva fight

Adam D Martin - September 7, 2021

UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz revealed that he is “probably 212 pounds” just five days out of his boxing match against Anderson Silva. Ortiz takes on Silva this Saturday night in what is his first professional boxing match. The fight will take place in Florida after it was moved when headliner Oscar De La Hoya got sick with COVID-19 and was replaced by Evander Holyfield, who will now fight Vitor Belfort in the main event. Due to Holyfield being 58 years old and coming into the fight on such short notice, the California State Athletic Commission wouldn’t clear the fight to take place there, which necessitated the entire card being moved down to the state of Florida, instead.

Anderson Silva calls Tito Ortiz boxing match "a tough fight," but believes technique will prevail

Adam D Martin - September 6, 2021

Former UFC champion Anderson Silva called the Tito Ortiz boxing match “a tough fight,” but he believes his technique will prevail. Silva takes on Ortiz this Saturday night on the Triller Fight Club card headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort. The fight will be contested at a catchweight of 195lbs, meaning Silva will be going up 10lbs from his regular 185lbs weight class in MMA, while Ortiz will be cutting down 10lbs from his normal weight class of 205lbs. Although the Ortiz vs. Silva booking still seems a little bizarre on the surface, it is still a somewhat intriguing matchup between two legends of mixed martial arts, only this time it’s taking place in the ring.

Tyson Fury will make crossover to MMA after boxing career, says father

Adam D Martin - September 6, 2021

Heavyweight boxing superstar Tyson Fury will make the crossover to MMA after his boxing career is over, says his father John Fury. The 33-year-old Fury is undefeated in pro boxing with a 30-0-1 record. His next opponent will be rival Deontay Wilder, in a trilogy bout that was recently postponed due to COVID-19 issues. Either way, there are still big fights left for Fury in boxing, including a fight against Anthony Joshua, but he is always thinking about the next step, and it could involve MMA.

Vitor Belfort vs. Evander Holyfield Triller boxing event shifted to Florida after California refuses to sanction fight

Adam Martin - September 5, 2021

The upcoming Vitor Belfort vs. Evander Holyfield Triller boxing event was shifted to Florida after California refused to sanction the fight. Belfort was expected to fight Oscar De La Hoya next weekend, but the former boxing champ was forced to withdraw from the fight after contracting COVID-19. Rather than scrapping the entire event, the promotion was able to get a short-notice replacement in the form of Evander Holyfield to step in and take the fight against Belfort. However, because Holyfield is 58 years old, the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight to take place in the state. Instead, Triller will move the entire event to Florida.

Luke Rockhold shares his thoughts on Jake Paul: “He’s not a real fighter. He’s a tough kid"

Adam D Martin - September 5, 2021

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold shared his thoughts on Jake Paul, saying “he’s not a real fighter. He’s a tough kid.” Paul has become one of the bigger names in combat sports over the last few years. The YouTuber-turner-boxer has turned heads with a 4-0 professional boxing record, which includes back-to-back wins over former UFC fighters Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. Still, not everyone is sold on him becoming some sort of champion boxer or MMA fighter. If you ask Rockhold, while there’s a lot to like about Paul, he’s still a very flawed fighter.

While it seemed like most observers thought Paul did enough to edge out the win, there are some, however, who believe that Woodley deserved the nod. Tyson, though, disagrees.

Following that fight, Woodley — Askren’s longtime teammate — got into a rivalry with Paul that culminated in them fighting this past Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio, with Paul taking home a narrow split decision over the former UFC welterweight champion. While most thought Paul did enough to win the fight, Askren believes that Woodley deserved the nod.
