Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. believes Nate Diaz’s defense will determine his fight with Jake Paul. The former UFC title challenger left the promotion following a submission win over Tony Ferguson last September. Following that victory, Nate Diaz became a free agent for the first time in a decade and set his sights on a boxing match. While briefly linked to Logan Paul, he will instead face Jake Paul tomorrow night in Dallas.

Roy Jones Jr. made history this past Friday (June 30), but perhaps not in the way fight fans envisioned. Jones, an International Boxing Hall of Famer, took on bodybuilder NDO Champ. This was the first boxing match to take place in the metaverse. The virtual experience has been widely panned on social media. For starters, Jones is a legend in the fight game but at the age of 54, many believe he shouldn’t be in the ring competing even if his opponent has no prior boxing experience. Another issue some viewers had was the quality of the visuals.

Jones and Silva have been connected to a fight for many years, but the fight was never possible because UFC president Dana White would not let Silva out of his UFC contract to do boxing. White also said he would refuse to promote a boxing matchup between the two. Now that the 45-year-old Silva has been released for the UFC, he’s able to sign with any promoter, whether it be in MMA or boxing. Tyson and Jones, 54 and 51 years old respectively, met in an eight-round heavyweight exhibition on November 28 in Los Angeles. Heading into the fight, which was sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), both men underwent drug testing administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA).

Tyson and Jones met last Saturday in the main event of a high-profile boxing card that also featured a co-main event between Jake Paul and Nate Robinson. The 54-year-old Tyson and 51-year-old Jones Jr. entertained fans for old time’s sake in an eight-round draw, while Paul knocked out Robinson in the co-main event in a devastating fashion.
