Sean O’Malley laughs off ‘stupid’ Ryan Garcia for challenging him to UFC fight: “I don’t need to take him down”
UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley believes Ryan Garcia is crazy for wanting to fight him in MMA.
‘Sugar’ and ‘KingRy’ have been linked to each other over the last few months. Last year, Sean O’Malley revealed that he had already spoken to the UFC brass about a potential move to the boxing ring. According to the champion, the only fight that they would accept is a future clash with Ryan Garcia, due to the boxer’s starpower.
As of now, the boxer is preparing for an April 20th bout with Devin Haney. If Ryan Garcia can defeat ‘The Dream’ in the ring, he wants to face Sean O’Malley in the cage. In several interviews this week, the young star has called to fight in the UFC. His promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, even signed off on the potential bout this week.
On a recent edition of his podcast, Sean O’Malley responded to Ryan Garcia. There, ‘Sugar’ absolutely slammed the boxer. While O’Malley has previously called to fight in the boxing ring, he’s aware that the roles are much different for a boxer to step into the octagon. In his eyes, Garcia is crazy for trying to attempt it.
Furthermore, the UFC bantamweight champion is confident that he won’t even need to take Ryan Garcia down either. Sean O’Malley believes that the two sports are so different, that he could easily just outbox him wearing MMA gloves. In fact, ‘Sugar’ believes that he could beat Garcia, and Devin Haney in one night.

UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley responds to callout from Ryan Garcia
“He said he would fight me in the UFC if the money was there. Like, buddy.” Sean O’Malley stated on a recent edition of the TimboSugarShow, speaking about Ryan Garcia’s recent callout. “Brother, I would kill you within minutes. It’s just not even realistic, I wouldn’t even think about that. It’s crazy how stupid, and delusional that is… When boxers say they want to fight in MMA, it’s 100 percent crazy.”
He continued, “I don’t even need to take him down. I could take him and down and choke him, but I would kick him in the f*cking body, I would kick his little sticks, I would do whatever the f*ck I wanted to him, I could even box him with MMA gloves. It’s a different sport with those little MMA gloves. The distance is different.”
“I could beat him and Devin Haney in the same night!” Sean O’Malley concluded. “Back to back, in the same night.”
