Tyson Fury shuts down retirement talk, promises rematch with Francis Ngannou: “I’m going nowhere!”
Despite talk of retirement, Tyson Fury is still eyeing boxing matches with Oleksandr Usyk, Francis Ngannou, and Anthony Joshua.
‘The Gypsy King’ recently pulled out of his scheduled February 17th clash with ‘The Cat’. The Brit pulled out of the fight, due to a brutal cut he sustained last week in sparring. That boxing match was set to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, who accomplished the feat two decades ago.
Sadly, fans will need to wait a little bit longer to see the bout. Now, Tyson Fury is slated to face Oleksandr Usyk on May 18th, in Saudi Arabia. The news was announced last week, and the two boxers risk a $10 million fine if they pull out.
Many, have felt that the bout with the Ukrainian will be the last of Tyson Fury’s career. Given his two previous retirements, the logic was sound. However, the British boxer seemingly has no interest in hanging up the gloves anytime soon. On Instagram earlier today, the lineal heavyweight champion called for future fights with Anthony Joshua, and Francis Ngannou.
‘AJ’ and ‘The Predator’ are currently expected to box on March 8th, in Saudi Arabia. Turki Alalshikh has repeatedly stated his plans to book the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou, against the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk. It seems that the British boxer is down with that plan. He wants both heavyweights in the future, possibly Joshua twice.

Tyson Fury promises fights with Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua
“I keep hearing talk of people saying I should retire, or I’m going to retire soon, or whatever.” Tyson Fury stated in a video message posted to social media earlier today. “I ain’t retiring anywhere, I’ve got two fights with Usyk, for the undisputed. Twice. Then, I’m going to fight ‘AJ’ once, maybe twice if there’s a rematch. If he wants one, after the first battering of him.”
He continued, “Then I’m going to fight Ngannou again, and that’s just to start. So there’s five little fights for you, to whet your appetite with. I’m going nowhere! Nowhere! I’m a 35-year-old in the prime of my life, and I’m ready to smash all [of them].”
Tyson Fury famously faced Francis Ngannou last October, in the first boxing match of the MMA fighter’s career. The PFL heavyweight contender entered that bout a massive underdog, but nearly shocked the world. Ngannou dropped the boxer in round three, and even cut him, but wound up losing by split-decision.
Following the bout, both men showed interest in a rematch. However, due to Tyson Fury already scheduling a fight with Oleksandr Usyk, the rematch couldn’t happen next. That being said, it seems that the British boxer still has interest in facing Francis Ngannou.
