Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury vs, Oleksandr Usyk, billed as ‘Ring of Fire’, was scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 17th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

It was to be a battle of the heavyweights with Fury sporting 34 wins (24 by KO) and Usyk sporting 21 wins (14 by KO).

Fury is the WBC champion and Usyk, 37, currently holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.

Apparently that much anticipated boxing match will have to wait.

Tyson Fury released a photo to social media of the cut he sustained.

MMA and Boxing journalist, Chisanga Malata, took to ‘X‘ with the photo of Fury and the following statement:

“JUST IN”

“Tyson Fury has released a photo of the cut which has forced the postponement of his undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Absolute horror gash that.

Can’t complain with the postponing of the fight at all.

Tyson Fury said in a statement:

“I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such superb condition.”

“I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed.”

“I can only apologize to everyone affected including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, and fans as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

The 35-year-old Fury was cut while sparring at his training camp in Saudi Arabia earlier today, Friday, February 2nd.

It remains unclear as to how long it will take for Fury to heal and recover from the nasty cut.

Rumors have it that Usyk may look for another opponent to step in on February 17th.
