VIDEO: Rampage Jackson announces June boxing match with Shannon Briggs
It appears that former UFC champion Rampage Jackson will finally be boxing Shannon Briggs.
The former UFC champion hasn’t been seen in action since a knockout loss to Fedor Emelianenko in late 2019. That bout was the last of Rampage Jackson’s deal with Bellator, and the company declined to re-sign him following the defeat. For a long time, it appeared that he was done fighting.
However, in 2021, Shannon Briggs suddenly called out Rampage Jackson for a boxing match. ‘The Cannon’ himself hasn’t been very active lately, last competing in 2016. Still, the two became the coaches of the short-lived Triller Triad Combat, which had one event late that year.
The idea was that the two former champions would fight the following year. However, with Triller later scaling back operations, it seemed that a boxing match between Shannon Briggs and Rampage Jackson would never happen. Instead, the latter focused on an MMA comeback in 2023.
However, late last year, the two appeared at Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia. There, they had an impromptu face-off and announced plans to box in 2024. At the time, the two teased that the fight would go down in February. However, it seemingly took some time for Rampage Jackson and Shannon Briggs to finalize their bout.
Earlier today, the former UFC champion took to Instagram to release a video message. There, Rampage Jackson confirmed that he would face Shannon Briggs in a boxing match on June 1st. While the former champion didn’t reveal who was promoting the event or any additional information, it seems that the bout is finally on. Later, Briggs himself released a video confirming the bout was on as well.

Rampage Jackson confirms boxing match with Shannon Briggs is on for June 1st
“I finally got the contract, it’s been over two years in the making.” Rampage Jackson stated in the video that he posted to social media earlier today, confirming plans for a boxing match with Shannon Briggs. “[Two years] of me, hearing Shannon’s mouth, I’ll get to shut him up in Qatar, June 1st. Shannon you’re going to regret calling me out all those years ago. You’ve been posting just ungodly videos of me, tagging me in ungodly videos.”
He concluded, “I just endured it, and I got the contract, I got it. Thank God! I’m going to shut your mouth once and for all! Let’s sign this s*it.”
While a profitable fight for Rampage Jackson, one has to figure if this puts an end to his MMA plans. Last year, he announced plans to compete in the upstart United Fight League against former Ultimate Fighter rival, Darrill Schoonover. However, no fight date was ever announced for the matchup.
What do you make of this fight announcement? Who do you have in this June boxing match? Rampage Jackson or Shannon Briggs?
