PFL CEO confirms interest in booking Cedric Doumbe against former UFC champion: "They both want to fight"

PFL CEO Peter Murray is serious about putting Cedric Doumbe vs. Anthony Pettis together. ‘The Beast’ has the potential to be the Donn Davis-led promotion’s first massive star. A former two-time Glory Kickboxing champion, he was heavily pursued by the UFC. However, he was released from the company in early 2023, for various reasons after a brief stint. Later in the year, Cedric Doumbe signed with the PFL. In late September, made his debut for the company.

In a highlight that will be shown for years to come, Cedric Doumbe got a highlight-reel knockout win in just nine seconds. That victory impressed most of the MMA world, and seemingly got the attention of Anthony Pettis.

PFL welterweight contender Cedric Doumbe feels the UFC badly messed up by letting him go. The former Glory Kickboxing champion made his PFL debut against Jordan Zébo over the weekend. The two welterweights headlined a card going down in Cedric Doumbe’s home country of France. He walked out with a mattress for his opponent in his entrance, with the mattress having a sign reading “goodnight”.

Alistair Overeem receives 12 month suspension for failed drug test, win over Badr Hari overturned to a no-contest

Alistair Overeem has failed a drug test from his GLORY Kickboxing fight back in October. According to VechtsportInfo, which has since been confirmed by GLORY, Overeem failed a drug test from his October decision win over Badr Hari. With that, Overeem has been suspended for one year along with having his win overturned to a No Contest and he has been removed from the GLORY rankings and has been asked to turn over a percentage of his winnings from the fight.

In one of the most bizarre combat sports moments of the year thus far, GLORY Kickboxing was forced to suspend an event in Belgium due to ongoing issues in the crowd. It occurred during the co-main event between Arkadiusz Wrzosek and Badr Hari when, after a knockdown in round two, things began to get heated – with Wrzosek’s supporters seemingly being at the forefront of the issues.

Former UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem revealed that he is injured and out of the upcoming Rico Verhoeven GLORY kickboxing match. Overeem was set to return to the kickboxing ring against Verhoeven on October 23, but the fight will no longer go down as planned. According to “The Demolition Man,” he has been dealing with an injury for a month. Unfortunately, he has had to pull out of the fight as he is now 100% healthy. Kickboxing legend Badr Hari released a statement following his shocking high kick KO loss to Arkadiusz Wrzosek at GLORY 78. In what was one of the most incredible comebacks you will ever see in combat sports, Hari was well on his way to beating Wrzosek after knocking him down three times in the fight before his opponent landed a Hail Mary left high kick that KOed Hari cold. It was a shocking scene as Hari was in complete control of the fight before he got caught in the head and knocked out cold with the high kick. You can watch the fight below if you haven’t seen it.

This past weekend’s combat sports schedule produced a number of particularly devastating knockouts. The most notable of those knockouts came on Saturday night, when Deontay Wilder clobbered Luis Ortiz in the seventh-round of their heavyweight boxing rematch. Michael Page also made some noise with another brutal knockout in the Bellator cage. While it didn’t make as much noise as Wilder and Page’s big knockouts, the Glory 72 card in Chicago, which aired on Saturday night UFC Fight Pass, also featured a particularly brutal knockout.
