Alex Pereira reportedly has a special clause in his UFC 300 fight contract: “Apparently that was part of his contract negotiation”

By Harry Kettle - March 19, 2024

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira could have a historic few months ahead of him in mixed martial arts.

Alex Pereira, Jamahal Hill

Next month at UFC 300, Alex Pereira will defend his belt against Jamahal Hill. While it isn’t the main event many expected for such a mammoth card, it promises to be an all-action affair.

Beyond that, the winner of Pereira/Hill will likely take on one of the other rising contenders at 205 pounds. While the division may not be the most stacked, there’s still a lot of excitement in the air regarding what the future holds.

For ‘Poatan’, he has made it known that he wants to be as active as possible. In fact, if Josh Thomson is to be believed, we could see him make a historically quick turnaround if he beats Hill.

Thomson’s Pereira revelation

“I also heard that if what’s-his-name gets out of the Jamahal- the 300, he wants to be on that card, Alex Pereira,” Thomson said. “Apparently that was part of his contract negotiation. If he gets the win, and he comes out healthy, that he’s allowed to fight on that card. Yeah, that was part of I guess apparently his agreement to fighting on 300.”

The card that Josh Thomson is referring to is UFC 301. That event takes place in Brazil, with many originally believing that Pereira/Hill would headline that card instead. If it happens, nobody can deny Alex’s rising position as one of the biggest names in the sport – and perhaps in the history of the company.
