UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski called a trilogy fight with Max Holloway “ridiculous” and suggested That ‘Blessed’ fight Calvin Kattar. Volkanovski and Holloway first met at UFC 245 last December. Volkanovski pulled off the upset that night, outstriking Holloway and winning a unanimous decision. However, the UFC granted Holloway, the long-time featherweight champ, an immediate rematch. The two then met a second time at UFC 251 on Fight Island earlier this summer. In one of the most controversial decisions of the year, Volkanovski edged out a split decision win.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has denied that the UFC has offered him a fight against rival Henry Cejudo. Volkanovski most recently competed at UFC 251 on Fight Island, where he won a controversial split decision over Max Holloway to keep his featherweight title. In the two months since then, Cejudo has been all over social media chirping Volkanovski and looking to fight him. The UFC has not yet booked Volkanovski for his next fight, leading to fans and media speculating that Cejudo could potentially jump the line and get it.

In the main event of the stacked UFC 251 card on Fight Island, Kamaru Usman was looking to defend his welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal. The co-main attraction saw Alex Volkanovski and Max Holloway have their immediate rematch for the featherweight strap. And, in the third and final title fight Petr Yan took on Jose Aldo for the promotions vacant bantamweight strap. In the end, Usman defended his belt for the second time in dominant fashion, winning all five rounds on two judges scorecards. In the co-main, Volkanovski narrowly edged out a split decision win, and Yan became the new Bantamweight champion with a fifth-round TKO win over Aldo.

Max Holloway responds after reporters allegedly receive threats over scores for his fight

Max Holloway has jumped to the defense of members of the MMA media who have allegedly received threats over the way they scored his rematch with Alexander Volkanovski. Holloway and Volkanovski first fought in December of 2019. On that night, Volkanovski swiped the title from Holloway with a unanimous decision win. In the co-main event of last Saturday’s UFC 251 card, the pair ran it back. Volkanovski ended up winning by decision again, but this time around, the result generated widespread controversy, as many viewers felt Holloway did enough to win.
