Alistair Overeem wants title shot with win over Andrei Arlovski
As we approach the UFC’s first event in Holland on May 8th, Alistair Overeem believes he deserves a title fight with a win over his teammate Andrei Arlovski.
Overeem is currently riding a 3-fight win streak that has seen him defeat Stefan Struve, Roy Nelson, and Junior dos Santos. A win over Arlovski would not only make it 4 straight for Overeem, but a win over a former heavyweight champion would be huge for Overeem’s hopes of a title shot.
He spoke to MMA Latest to discuss the situation:
“The UFC offered me this fight. Actually, Lorenzo [Fertitta] said ‘Cain or Arlovski. Cain is injured, so most likely it will be Arlovski,'”
“I don’t have any concerns fighting a teammate,” Overeem continued. “It’s a sport. To me, it doesn’t really mean anything.”
“We’re going to pick right back up where we left off after this fight,”
“After I beat Arlovski, I’ll be fighting for the title — end of the year.”
