Cris Cyborg confident Amanda Nunes rematch would go differently

Although Cris Cyborg is no longer in the UFC and recently signed with Bellator, she still hopes she can rematch Amanda Nunes one day. The two fought back at UFC 232, when Nunes moved up in weight and shockingly knocked Cyborg out in just 51 seconds. Since then, the former featherweight champion and the UFC had arguments over whether or not she wanted the rematch.
UFC 245 could feature three title fights

The UFC’s year-end pay-per-view card this December in Las Vegas, UFC 245, could potentially feature three title fights on it for a true blockbuster end to 2019. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani speculated that the UFC could consider stacking UFC 245 with three title fights. Here’s what the scribe tweeted.

UFC women’s ‘champ champ’ Amanda Nunes will return to the Octagon at December’s UFC 245 event in Las Vegas. The news comes via ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, who reported the following on Twitter:

Cris Cyborg is no longer a member of the UFC after completing her contract and then being released by Dana White. With that, the possibility of the Amanda Nunes rematch seems unlikely. Many wanted that fight to happen, including UFC president, Dana White, both fighters and now Cyborg’s coach in Jason Parillo. He says that is the only fight that makes sense for the former featherweight champion. ‘JP’ added that no other opponent or fight is an exciting option for Cyborg.

Yet, that is not the case as at UFC 240, the Brazilian legend will take on Felicia Spencer. According to UFC president, Dana White, he says Cyborg was scared to take the rematch and is afraid of losing. Speaking to TMZ Sports, he had this to say about a potential rematch.

International Fight Week has come and gone and with it was a stacked UFC 239 card. The card was headlined by Jon Jones looking to defend his light heavyweight title against Thiago Santos. In the co-main event, Amanda Nunes was looking to defend her bantamweight title against Holly Holm. And, in a pivotal welterweight bout, Jorge Masvidal fought Ben Askren. Jones ended up edging out a split-decision win over Santos while Nunes TKO’d Holm in the first round and Masvidal knocked out Askren in five seconds.
