VIDEO | Dana White Says He’s Making Amanda Nunes Versus Cyborg Happen
Cris Cyborg came, she saw, she conquered. She took on her biggest test to date and still proved she’s the most dominant women’s champion in the world of MMA today. After winning a decision over former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm, everyone is wondering what will be next. Cyborg has said she wants true featherweight fighter Megan Anderson, but the UFC seems to have other plans. Despite saying she doesn’t want to fight another Brazilian, Dana White says Amanda Nunes challenging Cyborg is the fight to make.
“First of all, Amanda Nunes wants to fight her. Amanda Nunes wants to fight [Cris] Cyborg,” White said. “That is the fight to make, and that is the fight I will make. Yeah, That’s the fight. That’s the fight. Amanda Nunes is a big, strong, powerful puncher. I think she matches up very well with Cyborg too, and I think that’s a fun fight. And that’s the fight to make.”

“Cyborg wants to fight, so we’ll get her a fight as soon as we can get it done. You know, as soon as Amanda can prepare and get ready for this fight, we’re ready to roll. When you’re the world champion, it doesn’t matter if you’re fighting a Brazilian, a German, a Puerto Rican, a freaking Cuban, whoever. You fight whoever comes and tried to take your belt from you.” — Dana White speaking to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports.
The UFC seems to be trying to put on bigger and bigger fights. A superfight between the women’s UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion would be huge. Amanda Nunes was also the only other fighter to beat longtime Cris Cyborg rival Ronda Rousey. If there was any doubt that Cyborg is the best women’s fighter in the world right now, taking out a current world champion may just cement her. Of course, right now it is all just talk, but Dana White seemed serious about the fight.
