Rose Namajunas is focused on fighting at flyweight as she believes she can become champion in the weight class. Namajunas is set to headline UFC Vegas 89 on Saturday against Amanda Ribas where she will look to rebound from the decision loss she suffered to Manon Fiorot back in September. That bout had marked ‘Thug’s’ first fight at 125lbs, this after she lost a lackluster decision to Carla Esparza to drop the promotion’s strawweight title.

Amanda Ribas still dealing with COVID-19 symptoms after Angela Hill fight cancelation

Adam D Martin - May 14, 2021

UFC women’s strawweight contender Amanda Ribas is still dealing with COVID-19 symptoms after the Angela Hill fight cancelation. Ribas and Hill were supposed to meet at UFC Vegas 26 last weekend at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, but the fight was canceled on fight day after Ribas and her father tested positive for the coronavirus. The UFC was forced to cancel the fight out of an abundance of caution but was able to work quickly to re-book the bout for June 5. However, it’s possible that the re-booking between Ribas and Hill might not take place as planned, either.

Harry Kettle - January 26, 2021

UFC commentator Dan Hardy has revived his “feud” with Herb Dean over his stoppage in the Amanda Ribas fight at UFC 257. Amanda Ribas releases statement following KO loss to Marina Rodriguez

Adam Martin - January 24, 2021

UFC women’s strawweight contender Amanda Ribas issued a statement following her vicious knockout loss to Marina Rodriguez at UFC 257. Had Ribas defeated Rodriguez, it seems likely that the UFC would have fast-tracked the Brazilian prospect up to the title picture.

Adam Martin - December 8, 2020

UFC women’s strawweight contender Michelle Waterson has been forced out of her upcoming UFC 257 bout against Amanda Ribas. MMAFighting.com was the first to report that Waterson has had to withdraw from her bout against Ribas at UFC 257, which was set to take place on January 23 at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. With Waterson off of the card, the UFC will likely look to find a replacement opponent for Ribas. With the card still well over a month away, it shouldn’t be difficult for the UFC to find someone to fight Ribas next month, though it’s doubtful the replacement opponent will be as highly-ranked as Waterson is.
