‘Rumble’ is coming off of a lightening-fast knockout of Glover Teixeira at UFC 202, where he stopped the Brazilian in a mere 13-seconds into the first round. The 32-year-old extended his knockout win streak to three in a row, and the win over Teixeira puts ‘Rumble’ right back in the title picture after falling short in his first fight against DC back at UFC 187.
‘Rumble’ had his moments in his fight against DC, even dropping the then-interim champ in the first 30 seconds of the fight.
Meanwhile, Cormier is also riding a three-fight win streak since losing a decision to Jon Jones in early 2015. ‘Rumble’ and Cormier have seemed destined to rematch ever since their first fight given the impressive nature of both men’s win streaks. Wednesday’s Twitter trash-talk between the two light heavyweights is just greasing the promotional wheels for a second fight.
During the Twitter exchange, ‘Rumble’ Johnson accused DC of making excuses for not fighting him sooner, while Cormier’s response suggests he’s more than confident in taking out ‘Rumble’ again.
Who do you have in a rematch between DC and ‘Rumble’? Will Cormier retain the belt and beat Johnson again? Or will ‘Rumble’ be the first man to finish DC with strikes to take his belt? Sound off in the comments section, PENN Nation!
