Anthony Pettis featherweight debut set for August
Earlier this month, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis announced his intentions to drop down to featherweight in hopes of ending his 3-fight skid.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Pettis would be making his featherweight debut in Vancouver on August 27th against #7 ranked featherweight Charles Oliveira.
UFC Executive VP Tom Wright spoke to Fox Sports about the bout saying:
“Anthony Pettis is dropping down to featherweight to face Charles Oliveira and “Showtime” is always a highlight reel guy and so is Oliveira. That’s going to be a great fight. We haven’t even announced the main event yet and the main event’s going to be very interesting too,”
While Pettis is riding a 3-fight losing streak into the bout, Oliveira is coming off a submission win over Myles Jury. Prior to that he lost to Max Holloway due to an injury sustained mid-fight, snapping his 4-fight win streak.
