EXCLUSIVE | Artem Lobov vows to silence Paulie Malignaggi 'once and for all'

Tom Taylor - March 25, 2019

Retired boxer Paulie Malignaggi seems to absolutely detest UFC superstar Conor McGregor, but it doesn’t seem like he and McGregor will have the chance to settle their differences in the ring any time soon. The good news for Malignaggi is that he could soon have the opportunity to fight McGregor’s friend and chief training partner, Artem Lobov. Both Malignaggi and Lobov recently signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Federation (BKFC), and depending on the outcome of Lobov’s April 6 fight with Jason Knight, they could soon be clobbering each other sans gloves in the BKFC ring.

Subsequently, BKFC made Artem a six-figure contract offer and the SBG staple felt it was a no-brainer to sign up for the next chapter of his combat sports career. ‘The Russian Hammer’ gives us the details on negotiations with BKFC, his thoughts on transitioning to bareknuckle and how it compliments his fighting style. We’ll also hear Lobov’s prediction for his debut against Knight, his anticipation of a showdown with Paulie Malignaggi, and clear up some rumors about Conor McGregor leaving the Straight Blast Gym in Ireland.

Tom Taylor - February 5, 2019

In fact, Artem Lobov believes he embodies success in MMA far more than your typical undefeated fighter, based on the fact that fans are always interested in seeing him perform.

Artem Lobov calls out Renato Moicano for short-notice UFC 231 scrap

Tom Taylor - November 30, 2018

Earlier this week, it was announced that streaking UFC featherweight contender Renato Moicano will be flown into Toronto for UFC 231, and kept at the ready in the event that featherweight champ Max Holloway or undefeated challenger Brian Ortega is unable to make it to the cage for the card’s headlining bout. While this means it’s possible that Moicano could get a surprise title shot, it’s more likely that he winds up sitting cage-side as Holloway and Ortega fight as planned. Artem Lobov is offering him a different option. Instead of flying Toronto and hoping for a short-notice fight, Artem Lobov says Renato Moicano should fly to Toronto and fight him. While Lobov recognizes Moicano is currently situated quite a distance above him in the rankings, he believes he still has something very valuable to offer the Brazilian: publicity.

Unfortunately, however, Johnson was unable to make weight for this fight, and was forced to cough up 20% of his fight purse, which was then paid to Lobov.

Last night, in the co-main event of UFC Moncton, SBG Ireland staple and Conor McGregor training partner Artem Lobov came up short against former lightweight contender Michael Johnson. Johnson took the bout on short notice, replacing Lobov’s original opponent Zubaira Tukhugov, and missed weight for the bout. With this loss, Artem Lobov fell onto a three-fight skid. His overall record, meanwhile, now sits at 13-15-1. Given these less-than-stellar stats, some fans feel that Lobov has only been kept around by the UFC due to his closeness with Conor McGregor.
