Bellator 215 Results: Matt Mitrione vs. Sergei Kharitonov ends in a no-contest
A heavyweight bout between Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov headlined tonight’s Bellator 215 event in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Matt Mitrione (13-6 MMA) was last seen in action at Bellator 207, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader in the semi-finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament.
Prior to the setback, Matt Mitrione had strung together four straight victories over opponents Carl Seumanutafa, Oli Thompson, Fedor Emelianenko and Roy Nelson.
Meanwhile, Sergei Kharitonov (28-6 MMA) was also last seen in action at October’s Bellator 207 event, where he scored a first round knockout victory over Roy Nelson.
“The Russian Mercenary” enters tonight’s Bellator 215 contest with Mitrione having won five fights in a row, and ten of his last eleven overall.
Round one begins and Matt Mitrione throws a hard low kick that connects right in the groin area of Sergei Kharitonov.
Kharitonov immediately crashed to the canvas in agony. This is not good. He may not be able to recover from this.
The referee takes a look and this one is all over folks.
The bout is ruled a no-contest. What a terrible way for the main event of the night to end.
