California Leads Charge, Suspends Fighter For Two Years Following Failed PED Test
The California State Athletic Commission is not messing around anymore.
Today, Executive Director Andy Foster announced that two fighters who fought on the Bellator 137, card failed their drug test.
According to Foster, bantamweight Mike Richman and welterweight Fernando Gonzalez failed their test. Richman lost his fight and tested positive for a PED. Gonzalez won his fight and tested positive for marijuana.
Foster also announced that Richman will be suspended two years and fined $2,500. That’s a much larger suspension than previous offenders.
Gonzalez will be fined $1,500 and the cost of his drug test and a 90 day fine.
Is this a sign to come of commissions enforcing harsher penalties?
