Dana White comments on Bellator 149 Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie 3
UFC President took in some questions from media and fans prior to UFC 193 going down in Melbourne, Australia. One of the questions asked was about the Bellator 149 announced fight between 48-year-old Royce Gracie versus 51-year-old Ken Shamrock.
White still seemed a bit baffled at just the thought of the fight and said (transcribed by bloody elbow):
“Listen, everybody’s gotta do their own thing, but I don’t think that 50-year-olds fighting is ever a good idea,” White said. “I hope nobody gets hurt. I mean, two 50-year-old guys. That’s crazy. Crazy.”
Gracie and Shamrock are true pioneers of the sport, having first fought against each other at the very first UFC event in 1993. Gracie took the first meeting by submission and then rematched two years later at UFC 5 where the legends fought to a draw.
What do you think of the fight between Shamrock and Gracie? Will you tune in?
