Fighter Seeking Sanctions Against Bellator

Follow along here. A former Bellator fighter, Gavin Sterritt, is looking to bring commission sanctions against his former promotion.

So, Sterritt is a student and friend of ‘Rampage’ Jackson, who has his own issues with Bellator. What’s Sterritt’s issue?

He was scheduled to fight at Bellator 140, against Brennan Ward, on July 17 and wanted Rampage to be one of his cornermen. This was during the time that Rampage was still going through litigation with the promotion. Bellator said they would allow him to corner and provided him with a list of guidelines that he had to adhere to.

In that letter they sent to Rampage, references were made to his contract with the promotion, the one that Rampage claims was terminated. So, if Rampage would agree to the guidelines and go corner his fighter it could be seen as him acknowledge that the contract is still valid, which would destroy his defense. So he didn’t go.

Sterritt felt like he was being given unfair treatment, since his opponent hadn’t received such a letter about his cornermen. So, Sterritt decided to pull out of the fight. Bellator replaced him and then released him from their roster.

Sterritt has now filed a complaint with the Mohegan Sun attorney general, saying that Bellator overstepped their bounds in regards to cornermen.
