Michael Page, Paul Daley booked for long-awaited Bellator grudge match in February
British knockout artists Paul Daley and Michael Page have been chomping at the bit to fight each other for years. They will finally have that opportunity in the New Year.
According to a report from ESPN, the pair will collide in Uncasville, Connecticut — not in the United Kingdom — on February 16.
This bout will go down as part of Bellator’s exciting welterweight Grand Prix. The winner of the fight is expected to battle former Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima in the tournament’s second round. Lima advanced to the second round with a submission defeat of fellow former champ Andrey Koreshkov in September.
In the opposing bracket of the tournament, reigning Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald is set to battle former UFC title challenger Jon Fitch, while BJJ ace Neiman Gracie is set to battle surging prospect Ed Ruth.
Paul Daley last fought in May, when he gave up a decision to Jon Fitch. This loss was preceded by a blistering, second-round KO of former UFC contender Lorenz Larkin, a submission loss to Rory MacDonald, and a 2017 knockout of the year contender at the expense of Brennan Ward. He’s 40-16-12 overall.
Michael Page, meanwhile, also last fought in May, when he smashed David Rickels to a second-round stoppage. This was his first MMA victory since a insipid 2016 defeat Fernando Gonzales — though he did compete in a pair of boxing matches during his hiatus from the cage. Page is undefeated at 13-0.
Who do you think will come out on top when Michael Page and Paul Daley finally collide in Connecticut this February?
