Earlier this year, UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn officially ended his retirement, revealing his intention to make a run at the featherweight title with the help of coaches Greg Jackson & Mike Winkeljohn. With his eyes set on a November return to the Octagon, Penn found himself criticized by UFC President Dana White recently when the UFC President stated that Penn didn’t live up to his potential in the Octagon, and ultimately could have gone down as the single greatest fighter of all time.

Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn was scheduled to come out of retirement at UFC 199 on June 4 in a featherweight bout against Cole Miller. Penn who last fought Frankie Edgar in 2014 is looking to make some noise in the featherweight division but will have to be put on the sideline as he has been pulled from the UFC 199 bout with Cole Miller after telling the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) that he had used an IV previously in March.

BJ “The Prodigy” Penn got his nickname early on in his martial arts career and for good reason. Our namesake was the first non-Brazilian to win gold at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships back in 2000, which catapulted his career in mixed martial arts. Penn then went on to achieve great accolades in the world of MMA becoming just one of two men to win UFC titles in two different weight classes. In July 2015, Penn was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Tuesday afternoon news broke that UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn’s fight against Dennis Siver at UFC 199 would take place on the televised prelims, as opposed to the Pay-Per View section of the card, as many expected. According to MMAFighting, Penn vs. Siver will serve as the main event of the preliminary card before Dustin Poirier vs. Bobby Green kicks off the Pay-Per View portion of the card.
