UFC fighter Bobby Green has explained why he believes Tony Ferguson can defeat Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296. Next month at UFC 296, Tony Ferguson will attempt to break his six-fight losing streak in the Octagon. He will go head to head with Paddy Pimblett, who is considered to be a rising prospect by many in the promotion. One way or the other, someone is going to be making some headlines by the end of the night.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 80, lightweights threw down as Bobby Green took on the 10th-ranked Grant Dawson. Green entered the fight coming off a submission victory over Tony Ferguson back in July which got him back into the win column. Prior to that, he had a No Contest against Jared Gordon and lost back-to-back fights to Drew Dober, and Islam Makhachev in what was his first UFC main event.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 79 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Grant Dawson vs. Bobby Green. The highly anticipated lightweight main event proved to be a short-lived affair. Bobby Green connected with a straight left early in the opening round which sent Grant Dawson crashing to the Octagon canvas. From there, ‘King’ proceeded to unload some heavy ground and pound which forced the referee to step in and stop the contest.

Ahead of the matchup, Dawson has been vocal that he expects to be able to outgrapple Green with ease. Green, meanwhile, told Dawson to keep the same energy, and claimed he didn’t even know who Dawson was.

Bobby Green claims he used to beat up current UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland in sparring sessions. Strickland is the UFC’s newly crowned middleweight champion, but before he even made it to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he and Green used to battle it out in sparring. According to Green, the two used to train with one another when they were around 21 or 22, and he used to beat up Strickland with ease.

Yet, even though Dawson is the ranked opponent, Green knows he is the more popular fighter and admits he wasn’t even familiar with Dawson until he got the fight booking.

It’s an intriguing matchup as ‘El Cucuy’ has struggled as of late. Ferguson has lost five in a row, but outside of Nate Diaz in his last fight, he has only lost to top-five fighters. Before losing to Diaz, he suffered losses to Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, and Michael Chandler.

UFC commentator Paul Felder has issued an apology after being threatened by Bobby Green for what went down at UFC Vegas 71 last weekend. On Saturday night, Bobby Green battled it out with Jared Gordon. While Green was originally awarded a TKO finish, it was later turned into a no contest due to an accidental headbutt on Gordon. In the aftermath, Bobby was infuriated with the decision – and he was also pretty upset by Paul Felder’s commentary.
