Texas MMA judge JJ Ferraro explained his controversial scorecard in the Rafael Fiziev vs. Bobby Green fight at this past Saturday’s UFC 265. Fiziev vs. Green was a fantastic lightweight battle that won “Fight of the Night” honors on a card full of great fights. While Fiziev was correctly deemed the winner of the bout after winning the first two rounds of the fight, there was some controversy when one of the judges scored the bout 30-27 in Fiziev’s favor, even though round three was a clear Green round. Although the good news is that the right fighter got his hand raised, MMA fans and media were up in arms about the 30-27 scorecard that didn’t give Green any credit.

Bobby Green and Gillian Robertson have each issued statements following their respective removals from tonight’s UFC 258 event. Green (27-11-1 MMA) was expected to face veteran Jim Miller in a lightweight contest this evening. Unfortunately for fight fans, Bobby collapsed shortly after making weight on Friday and his bout with Miller was called off.

Bobby Green and Jim Miller will no longer be fighting at UFC 258. After both Green and Miller made weight, Green collapsed backstage which immediately cause many fans to concern. However, the UFC was hoping to have the fight still take place tomorrow night but that will no longer the case the promotion revealed.

Green, who takes on Alan Patrick at this Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 35 event, has been very active during the COVID-19 UFC era, picking up back-to-back wins over Clay Guida and Lando Vannata since June. With his next fight just a couple of days away, Green gave some praise to the fighters who he called his “idols,” the men who helped “changed his life.”

After an incredible Fight of the Night at UFC 216 between Lando Vannata and Bobby Green, the judges awarded it a draw. At the time, it didn’t matter to those two warriors. It may still not. They both lifted their hands and embraced, knowing that they just put on the fight of their lives. Bobby Green may not have an issue with the result, but he does have a few words to say about the current state of judging in the UFC. “I don’t feel like we have good judges. I can’t even care what the judges think. Sometimes, they’re totally on, and sometimes, they’re totally off. That’s the way it is in our sport. We don’t get enough credit for who’s pressing the action. A lot of times, one guy chases the other guy around, and he ticks and tacks and runs, but he doesn’t get the credit for being the aggressor. Even though we say we judge upon aggression and cage control, they don’t give enough credit to those things. Because if I don’t push the fight, there is no fight. We’ll just be standing there looking at each other. But nobody understands that. Until you’ve fought, you wouldn’t understand that.”
