Brian Ortega has responded to Ilia Topuria’s claim that he won’t give him a title shot if he defeats Alex Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Topuria will be challenging Volkanovski for the 145-pound gold in the main event of UFC 298 this Saturday night. Topuria has been rather brash in the buildup for this title fight. He has already declared himself as the true UFC featherweight champion. He even said he wouldn’t give, Ortega, Max Holloway, or Yair Rodriguez a title opportunity.

Brian Ortega has had a long road to return from the injury he sustained in his UFC Long Island main event fight in July of 2022 against Yair Rodriguez. Ortega was taking on Rodriguez in a pivotal matchup for the featherweight division as the winner was expected to get a title shot. In the first round, however, ‘T-City’ dislocated his shoulder and the fight was stopped. Since then, Ortega has dealt with a couple more injuries as he revealed he’s had multiple surgeries during the time off, and not just on his shoulder.

Dan Ige is fresh off a devastating knockout victory, and the UFC featherweight already has some intriguing names on his mind. Ige shared the Octagon with Andre Fili in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas on February 10. One solid punch to the jaw, and Fili was done. Ige landed one more punch on a floored Fili to seal the deal. “50K” lived up to his nickname, snagging a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

Ilia Topuria has some advice for some of the top-ranked featherweights. Topuria is set to headline UFC 298 on February 17 as he takes on Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title. It’s a highly-anticipated matchup and in the lead-up to the fight, the Georgian is a slight underdog as he’s -105 to defeat the Aussie. Yet, Topuria has full confidence he will beat Volkanovski with ease.

Tracy Cortez has sent a friendly warning to her Ex-Boyfriend Brian Ortega that now is not the time to start throwing shade. Cortez and Ortega split earlier this year after dating for several months. The pair had kept their relationship pretty private and there didn’t appear to be any bad blood between the two after they opted to part ways.

Brian Ortega has reacted after UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa posted a photo with his former girlfriend Tracy Cortez. Costa (14-2 MMA) sent the internet into a frenzy on Friday evening when he shared the following photo alongside Cortez (10-1 MMA) on Twitter.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski’s mindset was otherworldly against Brian Ortega. ‘The Great’ is currently slated to return next month at UFC 290 against Yair Rodriguez. The bout will be the featherweight champion’s first since February. That month at UFC 284, Alexander Volkanovski came up short against Islam Makhachev in a bid for lightweight gold.

Since then, he has been healing his injury and is now getting closer to a return and is open to humbling Topuria who has been vocal in calling him out.

In the main event of UFC Long Island, a crucial featherweight fight headlined the card as Yair Rodriguez took on Brian Ortega. Rodriguez entered the fight coming off a decision loss to Max Holloway back in November while Ortega lost a decision to Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight belt.

The Octagon returned to New York for today’s UFC Long Island event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Brian Ortega vs. Yair Rodriguez. Tonight’s main event did not make it out of the opening round. After an entertaining opening couple of minutes, Yair Rodriquez went for an armbar submission. It appeared that Brian Ortega was fighting out of the hold when suddenly his shoulder popped. The injury resulted in the fight being stopped and ‘El Pantera’ was named victor by way of injury TKO.

Brian Ortega still can’t believe Alexander Volkanovski didn’t tap at UFC 266. In the third round of their featherweight title fight, Ortega appeared to lock in a guillotine and a triangle choke on two separate occasions and both appeared to be tight. Volkanovski’s face was going red but somehow the champ was able to escape and nearly a year later, ‘T-City’ doesn’t understand how.
