WWE Great Balls of Fire Results: Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe
A Universal Title fight between current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and top contender Samoa Joe headlined tonight’s WWE “Great Balls of Fire” pay-per-view live from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Brock Lesnar became the WWE’s Universal Champion this past April at Wrestlemania 33, defeating Bill Goldberg in a highly anticipated match in Orlando, Florida.
Meanwhile, Samoa Joe earned top contender status this past June in Baltimore, when he won a fatal five-way match at the promotions Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.
Before the bell even sounded to begin the match, Samoa Joa attached Brock Lesnar from behind and quickly forced the action outside of the ring. From there, Joe would choke slam Lesnar through the announce table, crippling the reigning Universal Champion.
Lesnar would eventually drag himself back in to the ring and tell the referee to sound the bell. Samoa Joe quickly pounced on Lesnar with an elbow followed by a kick to the face. Joe would begin to work some knees before Lesnar found his bearings and began unloading some knees of his own.
The wrestlers would take turns unloading strikes on each other while in the corner before Samoa Joe would eventually sink in his finishing submission the Coquina Cluth.
Lesnar would eventually escape the hold and then took Samoa Joe to “Suplex City”.
After scoring three suplexes from “The Beast”, Samoa Joa would land a low blow which allowed him to setup a choke slam.
Lesnar would kick out of an attempted pin but Samoa Joe quickly locked in his Coquina Clutch submission.
Lesnar would escape the hold by scoring a sidewalk slam. He shot in for a spear but Joe moved out of the way.
Brock would scramble back to his feet and then proceeded to land multiple suplexes.
Samoa Joe would survive the onslaught and eventually lock in the Coquina Clutch for the third time.
Brock Lesnar would fall to one knee while turning purple in the face.
Somehow Lesnar was able to lift Joe up and score his finisher the F5 which would spell an end to Samoa Joe’s championship dreams.
