WATCH | UFC announcer Bruce Buffer introduces the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl media day

By Josh Evanoff - February 6, 2024

UFC announcer Bruce Buffer had a little bit of a different announcing job earlier this week.

Bruce Buffer

The longtime MMA announcer has worked for the company for decades now. However, Bruce Buffer is known beyond combat sports circles these days. His iconic UFC introductions have seemingly now made their way to the world of American Football and the NFL.

This Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off in the Super Bowl. The squads led by Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy touched down in Nevada earlier this week. Last night, they had their media day at Allegiant Stadium and even got a true Las Vegas welcome from Bruce Buffer.

To start Super Bowl media day, the two teams took the field, with Bruce Buffer introducing them both. The longtime UFC announcer clearly put his all into the role, and fans seemed to love it. However, fans weren’t nearly as loving of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. During the introductions, the reigning NFL champions had boos rained down on them.

Bruce Buffer welcomes the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl

As of now, it’s unknown if the UFC announcer will have any greater role this Sunday. Although, he has introduced the Las Vegas Raiders on occasion during the NFL regular season. Beyond his coverage at the Super Bowl, Bruce Buffer does have business in the cage this weekend though.

This Saturday night, Bruce Buffer is expected to work UFC Vegas 86. The event will go down at the UFC Apex, and be headlined by a middleweight clash between Jack Hermansson and Joe Pyfer. For ‘The Joker’ the bout will be his first since a knockout loss to Roman Dolidze in December.

Meanwhile, ‘Bodybagz’ is considered to be one of the brightest UFC prospects around today. Pyfer enters his first promotional headliner riding a three-fight winning streak inside the octagon. He was last seen in October, scoring a second-round submission win over Abdul Razak Alhassan.

For the ranked middleweight’s sake, let’s hope that Bruce Buffer puts in as much effort for this Saturday, as he did for the Super Bowl teams. Then again, there are few better than the MMA announcer, and he likes to please the fans. Well, unless it’s Jim Miller’s unique nickname request for UFC 300 in April.

What do you make of this news involving UFC commentator Bruce Buffer? Will you watch the Super Bowl this Sunday? Who do you have in the game? The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers?
